Born in the Empire, Commander Michael "The Demonic Wombat" Thorne, spent much of his youth on a ship. He obtained his callsign during his first Neutron jump at Jackson's Lighthouse. Deciding that drifting into the flow of the Neutron energy as it moved away from the star would take too long he dove in and headed towards the star, managing to not only cause his flight instructor to have a small cardial event but also nearly wreck the Asp Explorer that he was being trained on. With a cracked and slowly leaking canopy and a cargo hatch that was constantly sparking ever after The Wombat managed to overcharge the FSD and jump out of the system. He hasn't gained any sense of safety since then. He pays the higher insurance premium because of it.
