Xander Briggs was born on 3281 October 11 inside of Boulton Station, an Ocellus Starport in the Venetic system, to Ariana and Martin Briggs. Ariana made her living as a slaver and smuggler, while Martin worked in the station's refinery processing Aluminum. As a child, Xander worked with his father in the refinery working with metals. As Xander entered his teenage years, he began accompanying his mother on slave runs. Ariana would smuggle enslaved people and illegal goods while selling refined metals in clean systems. The payouts were enough to keep the family relatively stable and afford to send Xander to the Pilot Federation school. After graduating from school and acquiring his Pilot's Federation license, Xander flew back to Venetic to help his family smuggle. Unfortunately, during his absence, his mother Ariana had been arrested for slaving. Slaving carries a high penalty in the Federation and Ariana was sentenced to life imprisonment. Xander's father took ill shortly after, unable to work. With the bills coming due and no one left to pay them, Xander set out in his mother's Asp Explorer to earn a legitimate living for the family.
He started out exploring the black, selling scan data for credits. Xander loved exploring space and it helped keep his mind off of family matters. After earning enough to pay for his father's treatments and the rent, Xander returned to Venetic to see his father. As his father's health improved, Xander offered him the opportunity to move off-world to a new system, Hedetet. His father agreed and Xander relocated them to Hermite Dock, an Orbis Starport in the Hedetet system and local hotspot. Seeking to earn enough money to afford their new lifestyle, Xander used his savings to purchase an Anaconda which he outfitted for trade. Using the knowledge he gained from his mother and father, Xander became a prominent minerals trader and black market slaver.
