Background:

In a former age, Ren would have been paralyzed from the neck down, an accident during his childhood left his spine severed in his neck. Thanks to emergency surgery, they were able to implant a cybernetic relay system to reconnect his spine, which not only saved his life but also left him with a positive impression of cybernetic enhancements.

After flying as a commercial pilot for a while, he saw that the Pilot's Federation began to rise in reputation. Ren sold his assets and with the money he bought a sidewinder and enrolled in the Pilot's Federation, starting his journey as an independent pilot.



After Joining the Pilot's Federation:

Ren started off slowly gaining wealth through trade missions for various federation corporations, eventually making enough to buy a Cobra MK. III, allowing him to delve more deeply into the trade. However, after some time he became disillusioned with the federation and bought a Diamondback Explorer, outfitted, and headed out into the black to give himself some space and time to think. He decided to travel to Colonia in order to see what life could be like without Federation influence.

He soon found that he was ill equipped for an exploration mission. He headed back with all that he had learned from his three day excursion and outfitted his ship for real exploration. He met with Felicity Farseer and, after explaining his plight and doing her a favor, she agreed to help him engineer his FSD before he headed out. Once they were done, he knew it was time.

His journey brought him to Colonia and, realizing how much money he had just made from his trip, Ren bought an Asp Explorer and used the knowledge he had gained to better equip it for exploration and engineer the FSD on his own. He then set off to the galactic center. By then, he had succumbed to the call of the void and was hooked. There's nothing quite like going where no human has gone before, and seeing sights with his own (enhanced) eyes that life could barely comprehend.

When he finally returned to the human "bubble" after two months in the black, he began to engineer his AspX even further. Making short exploration excursions for materials, to guardian sites, and even to a few close tourist destinations (such as VY Canis Majoris). He took a year off from flying, networking with engineers and living in luxury due to his newfound wealth. After that year, he realized there wasn't much left for him in the bubble and flew back to Colonia to network with the engineers there. Away from the ruling factions and his curiosity being piqued by tales of combat, he began to build a combat vessel to use in the Colonia region. He plans to get his fill with fighting before he heads back out into the black on his perfected AspX.
