Rameses was born into a mining family aboard the Laphrian Shipyard, in the Artemis system in 3271. As a young boy, he would sit in the hangar bay for hours watching the mining fleet come and go from the belt. The sheer wonder of what mysteries could be waiting out there, in all that space, was captivating. Especially in contrast to the confining halls of the station. His father could sense the child's enthusiasm to be in space, and began taking him out to the Freeholm asteroid base and on mining runs at a very early age. He was a voraciously curious child, absorbing every possible detail about the inner workings of his family's Python, how to work through a ring, and basic navigation to and from neighboring systems.

Mining being a fairly lucrative trade, his family was able to secure him an internship at the Savitskaya Laboratory in Artemis to nurture his curiosity. Here Rameses learned the principles of scientific investigation, the fundamentals of interstellar travel, and just how little humanity knew about the wider galaxy. The time he spent here allowed him to retain his sense of childlike awe about the world around him, deeper understanding only fed the flame. Unfortunately, he'd be occupied with more practical matters throughout young adulthood.

As soon as he came of age, Rameses joined the Pilot's Federation and leased a Sidewinder. He had many Imperial contacts through his home system, and readily found work ferrying data within the Empire. It was not long before he had saved enough credits to buy progressively larger ships, moving from data delivery to bulk goods transport, all the while continuing to rub elbows with the Imperial hierarchy. It was clear to him that dukedom, and the privilege of buying an Imperial Cutter, was supposed to be his ambition. Everyone around him reinforced this idea. Eventually he had the credits he outfitted his own Python and returned to his family's profession, starting a small-scale diamond mining operation. The massive profits resulting from the outrageous demands for low temperature diamonds made Rameses extremely wealthy. Then it happened, years of favors and buying influence finally earned Rameses the title of Duke. A Cutter was added to his mining fleet, immediately generating even more mining revenue. This went on for some time. Rameses would oversee the same daily mining operations in Borann, shooting the same asteroids and mining the same diamonds. It began to dawn on him that this life, wealthy or no, would never be fulfilling. This couldn't be all there was. This work simply did not nourish his soul.

Something had to change.

After some time of deep introspection, he gave up his career as miner. He would instead go out and see the galaxy, just as he dreamed he would as a boy. He spent a brief time consulting with the few explorers he was able to contact, outfit a Krait Phantom per their recommendations, and set off for the frontier settlements of Colonia. Rameses yearned to find meaning somewhere out in the black.

He lacked any explorative skill, ineptly pulling himself toward the core. Credits can only buy one so much. But experience taught him quickly. The ominous doubt, as one feels wading into deep water, that plagued the beginning of the journey gave way to an overwhelming sense of freedom as he grew in confidence. Rameses made it to Colonia. He learned of the remote systems of Beagle Point and Semotus Beacon, at the far end of the galaxy, while sitting at the bar at Jacques Station. Aftet coming this far from home, he felt emboldened and resolved to make that pilgrimage as well. He left Colonia, continuing on toward SagA* and eventually reaching the Abyss. Taking in the view of intergalactic space, Rameses knew that exploration was his calling.

Upon returning to the Bubble with months of exploration data stored aboard his ship, Rameses learned of an initiative to develop a Deep Space Support Array, with the goal of placing fleet carriers in every galactic region to serve as safe harbors for explorers. Finally, this was a worthy cause to which he could devote billions of credits, and possibly convince others to venture out and experience depths of space that he had grown to love.

Rameses immediately volunteered and was assigned to the Mare Somnia region, far to the northeast. He climbed back into his Phantom and, after some moderate engineering began the process of scouting a deployment system. While passing through the Sagittarius-Carina Arm, he saw peduncle trees for the first time. Rameses had flown from one side of the galaxy to the other and back, but had never seen anything like this before. These were dark, foreboding creatures, drifting in clouds and rings by the dozens. He had to learn more. Of what other strange and unique creatures was he ignorant?

Throughout the deployment of his fleet carrier, the DSSA Nest, he couldn't get these lifeforms out of his mind. He visited several more populations along the way. Inquiries into these truly alien lifeforms led him to contact Canonn Interstellar Research, a group a scientists whose own group of wanderers were actively engaged in push to win the seasonal exploration competition. Rameses eagerly sought to join their ranks, hoping to both learn from their collective knowledge and contribute to the effort. This endeavor bore fruit, with Canonn winning the exploration trophy and Rameses one of several several inducted into the Order of the Biscuit Tin in honor of the victory. This is what Rameses was seeking when he left the Bubble behind, the thrill of new discoveries and a community with which to celebrate them.

Since that time, he has used the group's knowledge to deepen his understanding of the life strewn throughout the galaxy, and has grown comfortable in the company of like-minded individuals. He now happily works as an explorative astrobiologist, locating and cataloging novel biological populations wherever his wanderings lead him.
