Imagine a stretch of country road at the darkest hours of night. You pull up to a red light and a car passes through the intersection and continues off into the darkness fading from view and mind presumably on their own voyage into the night.

If the galaxy is that road at night, and populated systems, stations, and fleet carriers are intersections, I am the car you see once before they vanish into the night. Or maybe you don't. Space is vast after all.
