Anne Satevis was born on the Orbis Station known as Henderson Dock, orbiting 34 Pegasi 5, in the year 3283.  An only child, she was raised by her father (a logistics specialist) and mother (a support technician) on the station until she was 16.  It was then that the Kumo Crew led by Archon Delaine decided that the station, and the terraformed world it orbited, should belong under their dominion.  Fearing for their lives, Gareth and Jennifer Satevis contacted a friend who traded on the local black market in an attempt to seek passage aboard one of the last few ships leaving Henderson before Delaine's forces would arrive.  With only one seat available, they made the brave decision to send Annie away, hoping that she might be able to find a safe haven among the stars.

On the run ever since that fateful day, Annie kept her head down and put her skills to work, first as a dock hand at Deluc Ring in Wolf 1022.  She found passage to LHS 3677, where she decided to settle down at Clifford Terminal and try her hand at the food service industry.  Seeing no future in that line of work, she set out a year later to LTT 15899 and soon found work as a card dealer at Kekule Orbital.  No matter where she went, however, she couldn't shake her feelings of loneliness and longing for home.  

She saved up some credits and considered heading back to 34 Pegasi to try to determine if her parents were still alive when she met up with a handsome young man named Brock Ourub who happened to own a starship.  He taught her some of the basics of piloting, and soon she found herself longing to fly among the stars herself.  Their relationship blossomed into romance, and she started to see a possible future where she could finally be happy.  Occasionally, she would beg and plead with him to take her home, if only to find her parents again and help them relocate to Kekule with them.  He would always decline, citing the dangers involved with bringing a refugee such as Annie back to a Delaine-controlled system.

Their relationship came to an abrupt end one evening when Brock attempted to force himself onto her while they were alone in his starship orbiting Dromi 1.  In desperation, she locked herself in the ship's escape pod and pulled the release switch.  Free from her attacker but now lost in the void with only the clothes on her back and the credits in her wallet, she made her way to Mawson Dock.  Determined to never allow anyone to control her destiny ever again, she spent her life's savings to purchase a Sidewinder Mk I.  She knows now that she has only two choices in her life: chase her dreams of exploring the galaxy and all its wonders, or die trying.
