Born and raised in Haberlandt Survey on Europa, Malax Wry Lobenstern grew up listening to stories of the Void from his parents. They were from military families with long service histories, so it was a fairly easy decision once returning from Pilot's Federation training, to sign on to the Federal Navy. It is during this time he earns the callsign, WryLobster.

Serving several years in an Expeditionary Unit, WryLobster maintained a decent record and honed his piloting skills. Doing mostly routine upkeep and security, he didn’t see much combat. That changed when in 3300, the new President launched a military campaign in the Lugh system. He was shipped out aboard a Farragut Class cruiser, as a fighter pilot. However, on the journey there, Lobster was affixed on the Witchspace around him. He had seen it a hundred times before, but this long, seemingly endless hurdle was different. There was something, out there. Nothing came of it and that was that. The conflict was soon over and he was glad it was so.

Taking leave from the military, it was time for family. WryLobser took his people to see something he had heard about during his deployment, the Maia Black Hole, in 3302. They stopped at Obsidian Orbital for a few days, where they were present during what became known as the Black Flight incident. Soon after, WryLobster's father revealed that he had worked for INRA years ago, and what he knew about them before they were disbanded. "Fly with your eyes wide open, kid," he said as he ended the conversation.

Fast forward to 3305, WryLobster began to venture farther out in space in seek of interesting things and information surrounding the mysteries of the Void, as well as amassing the funds necessary to found a new organization. In the same year the Terran Expeditionary Fleet was established, and is now Lobsters current focus.
