Ausyana was abandoned in the year 3281 at an orphanage on the planet Lave in the Old Worlds aged about 12 months, with a handwritten note accompanied by 100CR, simply saying

Ausyana is destined for glory, please take good care of her.

She grew up with stars in her eyes, never happy in school, she just wanted to explore the galaxy. Perhaps this was in her blood...

Working in the gambling dens in her teens, she picked up some useful hand-to-hand combat skills as well as an impressive capacity to drink everyone under the table in Lavian Brandy drinking games. She cobbled together enough cash to pay for a one-way shuttle trip to Lave Station. There she got a menial job with Cowell & MgRath Shipyards but soon got herself into ship systems and flight testing after showing an aptitude for flying in the simulators, which she wangled by using her charm on one of the engineers... during a Lavian Brandy drinking game of course.

At the age of 21 she received a mysterious memory-stick (a very old tech message device) containing two things:  Firstly a message:

Take flight Ausyana, your destiny awaits.
B.

And secondly: Hangar and ship access details for an old Cobra Mk III, which she found covered up in a dusty hangar, unseen for many years.

She resigned her job, registered her handle Aussi with the Pilot's Federation, and finally stepped aboard her Cobra, Retro.
