Rannik was born to Artisan parents while they were living on the Magnus Gateway. Rannik grew up on multiple stations and outpost and that is where he fell in love with the idea of exploring the stars. Rannik began his life in space working on cargo ships and cruise ships, slowly working his way to first mate on a freighter that did runs from Alpha Centauri to Sirius. When Rannik's parents passed on in 3300, Rannik decided to strike out and explore the wider galaxy. His first exploration voyage was in 3303.
