Born on Alioth to a gas miner father and a shuttle pilot mother, Amara fell in love with the idea of being out in the black from a young age. She grew up dreaming of being a pilot and one day perhaps her own Commander, spending her days salvaging parts from the mining operation junkyards. When she was old enough, Amara joined an Alliance squadron eager to train aspiring pilots and bolster its ranks. She quickly took to the pilot's seat and eventually earned her way to a Combat Support Squadron, flying close air support, troop transport, and CASEVAC missions for the Alliance.

Amara quickly gained a reputation for being one to never turn down a CASEVAC, no matter how hopeless the situation seemed. Alliance soldiers began to whisper about a certain pilot, ready to fly anything into a veritable clusterfuck in order to bring people home. Amara always busied herself with knowing her ship inside and out. While she began her service flying a Diamondback Scout, she ended it in a Chieftain. Having earned herself the callsign "Freya" after the Norse Godess of old who ferried those who fell in battle to her hall, Amara was respected throughout her squadron as a savior of the ground soldiers. It was one such CASEVAC mission that spurred her to move on from her service though. Called upon to retrieve a squad of troops pinned down in poor terrain, Amara did not refuse. She returned two hours after expected and after having lost radio contact with her carrier ship. The Chieftain itself was a sight to behold, missing two engines, almost half of its structure, and most of its thrusters. Amara still managed to nurse it home, barely keeping it airborne, and had the wounded soldiers on board.

It was after this event that Amara decided she wished to make her own way. She was gifted with a new, top-of-the-line Crusader made with materials from her old service bird. This was given to her in thanks by her squadron and per regulations, on the condition that if the Alliance called upon her for assistance in humanitarian or Thargoid operations she would oblige. Amara had done it, she was her own CMDR, owner and pilot of the Valkyrie of Alioth.

Amara now operates independently as an explorer and salvager when she is not being hired for aid work or other endeavors.
