Commander Lotus Terranus is an Earther who, like so many, found themselves in LHS 3447 on the promise of adventure. The loan of a Sidewinder Mk1 from the Pilot's Federation saw him leave Trevithick Dock in early 3302 and begin a nomadic life. Trade and exploration, plus some time in the Federal Auxiliary and campaigning for Felicia Winters's Liberals, saw him journey across the Federation. Following a brief spell of bounty hunting in the company of Commander Brannigan Zappa, he finally returned to Earth, his fortune made.

By early 3305, he longed for the void again. With the development of new technology, he started a core mining enterprise. After an exploration phase, this was based in Kruger 60, while mining operations primarily took place in Arbuda. The business was wound up in mid-3306 when Lotus Terranus took a position with Mohamed Calhoun at the Federal Reclamation Company, and he moved to Invergary in the Delkar system.

Through his work at FRCo, he has attained the rank of Admiral of the Federal Auxiliary. Alongside co-pilot Charley Jacobson, he heads up the tour operations of the Company's diplomatic section, and has transported everyone from heads of state to political protesters. Following the Nine Martyrs attacks in March 3307, his work rescuing civilians from Dawes Hub in Achenar, and his assistance with its subsequent rebuilding, led to the Emperor bestowing him the title of Duke of Vucub Huan.

He vowed to bring peace to the troubled Vucub Huan system under the aegis of FRCo, and successfully did so in May 3307, using experience, previously gained assisting Commander MadAl's takeover of Sapill, to liberate the system from Hodack Prison Colony (HPC). He was made Chair of the Company's strategy committee following this success, giving him responsibility for issuing regular bulletins advising fellow pilots how to best advance the Company's interests.

In his spare time, Lotus continues to enjoy exploration, as well as building and engineering his ever-growing fleet of ships. These twin pastimes have led him to make extensive study of Guardian ruins. This exploration work finally led to the Pilot's Federation awarding him the rank of Elite in April 3307, awarded a second time in August 3307 for his work advancing trade in the Honoto system. In October 3307, he commissioned construction of FRCo's latest fleet carrier, the Hand of Calhoun, which he now commands. It also serves as his home base.

After a leave of absence engaging Thargoids in the Witch Head Nebula and exploring the Orion Nebula, Lotus returned to working with Company when the Pilot's Federation contracted them to help repel a Thargoid incursion around their space. For assisting a nearby Imperial colony, he was made Prince of Chuelchs. With further improvements to his theories of Battle Group Strategy, he was able to liberate that system from the control of HPC, then moved on to the long-time target of Komovoy. At only 9 Ly from Delkar, this was the last system held by Codorain Emperor's Grace, and had been held for the Empire against FRCo's expansion for years with the assistance of both Codorain Network and HPC. One by one, these factions were eliminated, and the Company finally took control of the system in October 3308.
