Born an imperial slave, freed after Aisling Duval took control of her system.

Initially, she wanted to discover the universe, come back with exploration prize money to help her parents towards a free retirement, and then either continue exploring, or support the princess in freeing more slaves. But who knows where encounters will steer her?

Akiya tends to be good with math and complex machinery, but not at ease with social interactions, and especially bad at lying. She also fancies herself a good imperial citizen and Princess Aisling supporter.

3284: Born from Imperial slaves parents on the "Godel Vista" starport on HIP 116045 AB 3 f. Her parents work on the colony fuel management facilities. Despite the harsh environment, she enjoys a loved and protected early childhood.

3290-3298: Akiya is schooled as another future hand helper with other slave children, but a knack for maths help her get out of basic schooling and headed towards longer studies.

(yes, in a lot of the Empire, even slave children get schooled. You do want them to know proper etiquette when they become your slave, and to know how to operate your possessions while you go socialise and meddle in politics, after all. Plus, in HIP 116045 were slavery tend to be VERY long, it would be bad if they didn't realise how they and their parents are in debt for that free education, lodging, and healthcare, and then don't accept it's natural for them to remain slave to honour that.)

3297: Akiya gets her first crush on a girl (that goes nowhere) and discovers she is not attracted to boys. Not a big deal in the 34th century, but it tends to make her already-socially-awkward self feel even more isolated around her not-scientists, or hetero, or free (in the advanced science courses) school mates.

3298: Akiya is assigned to a work crew. Her forewoman, Sri, fudges the schedules to get her out of the most demanding grunt work and enable her to continue her studies.

3299-3300: Akiya develops her first big crush, on Sri (who's a lesbian herself, but, unfortunately for Akiya, already in a happy couple with young Violet). Sri accepts to start Akiya brow tattoos.

(an old tradition amongst imperial slaves to tattoo themselves, as the only thing they can really own - plus it helps distinguish who's trusted by fellow slaves from free contractors and bosses who might bail out and let the slaves in danger in case of problem. Some also say that some slave mothers encourage their offspring to tattoo their faces as a way to make them look less desirable for nobles)

3302: Akiya 18th birthday, brow tattoo final touch, and end, without money, of her formal studies.
Sri manages to get Akiya out of grunt work and into the control room, where she can continue to learn on the job and by reading every manual she can get access too. In exchange, Akiya tries to steer control to better planning and more safety (and at least warn Sri when some things don't look safe from her end). Not everybody is happy with that arrangement, of course (neither on the overworked grunts side or on the management side), but enough of them support it or dont care that the arrangement holds until...

3302/11: Turmoils in HIP 116045. Denton Patrus loses system control system, which will be gained later by Aisling Duval. Akiya helps Sri with her contacts from the control room to launch peaceful negotiations to transfer the Imperial slaves contracts to employees, first supported by the local union, then later advised by a knight liaising with Unchain. In exchange, she gets lumped with the kids despite having passed 18, and gets an education grant from Unchain. As an aside, she develops another crush on said knight, callsign "Shrimp", but never dare say anything. Yes, she tends to crush easily. She also ends being fired from the fuel business.

3303 - 3306: Akiya re-starts her studies with the grant. She also works side jobs for money to leave the colony, mostly as a mechanics assistant in the starport. She studies spaceship engineering, passes the theoretical pilot certificates, plus practices basic piloting skills on a simulator. She is eventually able to take the pilot federation entry exam with a good enough score to get a grant for the practical course.
She also uses some extra money to get Sri replace her tattoos with variable ink (nano-machined ink that can change colour or disappear)

3306/12: Akiya gets her wings. After one week of training missions in a loaned Sidewinder (registered in Cubeo as the Maria Agnesi, AK1-1CU), she is able to buy a Cobra MkIII (Sophie Bryant, AK2-1CU) and is sent to Ehecatl to start her career.

3307/01: Akiya survives her first combat, and is saved from mugging afterwards by some Imperial slave bar host "Ano", and falls in loves with them. She promises to free them and launches into touring with a brand new Dolphin (Emilie du Chatelet, AK3-1CU).
