Born in the Brothers Installation of the Borann System, Cain "Nova" Hall is the oldest of three siblings, one brother, James "Bullseye" Hall, one year younger, and one sister, Nicole "The Healer" Hall, three years younger, to be born to a Mr. Klondak "Rango" Hall and a Mrs. Allison "The Rose" MacGregor Hall. Growing up, Cain's father worked on ships as a mechanic, his mother flying out as a trader. Learning both from his parents, Cain grew an affinity for ships, trade and travel.

At the age of 16, Cain, his mother and two siblings, who were on board Mrs. Hall's Python, The Boulevard, were abducted by local pirates during a trade run. in an attempt to save her children, Mrs. Hall sent all three siblings into a make shift escape pod built by her husband. She was not successful as halfway through, the pirates breached through the door leading into the ship. As they entered, they killed Mrs. Hall as she fought all three intruders, killing one and injuring another. The remaining two pirates rounded up the children, passing them off as mere slaughter.

Cain stepped up and offered the pirates a deal. They would be allowed him as apart of their gang, being at the low end of the totem pole, merely a slave, if they were to let his siblings free. After much thought, the pirates agreed under one condition... Their father pay for a safe return of the two children. Contact with Mr. Hall was made and a deal was met with great hesitation. As the pirates left his siblings at the drop off location, Cain realized that he was a slave to pirates.

Now apart of then pirate group Chaan's Mercy, Cain immediately experienced first hand the cruelty of a pirate gang. Living quarters the size of a broom closet, meals consisting of cheap food cartridges and synthetic meat, and scarce hygiene commodities, water was brought through half rusted or busted pipes and electricity was never consistent. If any pirate felt as though Cain was out of line, severe physical punishment was met. At the beginning, Cain was used merely as a heavy lifting mule, carrying stolen wares to and from ships for long hours of the day. When he saw that a ship readying to transport slaves was a mere takeoff away from self-destruction, which would kill all onboard, Cain took action. pointing out the problems and using simple fixes to repair the ship, Cain received the praise, and trust, that he needed to escape.

When at the age of 21, after five years of being a slave, Cain received enough trust with the pirates to begin taking part of flying missions, overseeing cargo hauled on and off the ship as well as being the onboard mechanic. One mission, which became his last, as his crew hauled kidnapped tourist turned slaves into Imperial space, Cain planned a coup against the pirates alongside the special cargo. With two pilots, another mechanic, and several off duty Federal Navy soldiers by his side, Cain entered the ships armory and handed out weapons to any and all able bodies. After being armed, they quickly and quietly subdued or killed any gang member in their way into the cockpit. There, they took control of the ship and landed in the nearest star-port. Being a Federal port, this allowed all slaves free and all pirate members under arrest.

Cain, though being apart of said gang, was set free after his story was told as well as multiple witness accounts from the slaves, especially the Federal Soldiers, were described to star-port authorities. Cain would later help with the tracking, hunting and killing of Chaan's Mercy members throughout the several systems that they inhabited. Finally, in the year 3304, only one year after his freedom, in one of the few co-op efforts between the two superpowers, merely due to the system being contested between the two, the Federation and the Empire had the gang held up in the Atlantis system until Federal forces went in and wiped the rest of Chaan's Mercy out, including their leader, Marcus Chaan.

After being freed, Cain was returned to his home in Borann to learn that his father died due to Chaan's Mercy pirates, killing him after dropping off James and Nicole Hall. The pirates had hoped to steal back the kids to use or sell into slavery. James found a way to escape, leading Nicole with him. They found their way onto a Federal ship, which then took them in until they reached their destination. Both were put into foster care until James became of age at 18, in which he went into the Federal Navy to find his brother Cain. Nicole took after her mother and went into working as a trader, hoping that way she could find her brother in the slavery business.

In the year 3303, Cain took on being apart of the Pilot's Federation, learning to fly a ship independently for himself. Following up dispersing Chaan's Mercy in 3304, Cain became a graduate with high grades in 3305. As such, His first role was to aid his brother in the Federation dealing with civil unrest as well as pirate activity, especially when it came to the slave trade. In 3306, Cain took an honorable discharge from the Federal Navy after covering fire for evacuees on the station Foucault Ring in the LP 872-8 System after being raided by a pirate gang, taking severe damage to his right leg.

Recently, in early 3307, during the Seven Martyr's attack, Cain served in the evacuation efforts as a passenger transport to help his brother who was serving in the Li Qing Jao station in the Sol system. It was later found that James was KIA while helping evacuate citizens off the station.

Today, Cain works independently as a contractor, trading, exploring, and fighting against pirates. Cain also works as a information coordinator between the Imperial War Dogs and the Federation.
