Born on a small refining settlement in the Denka system, the son of an IISS patrolman and a nurse.
Joined the Imperial Navy at 16, and completed training as a naval infantryman.
Applied for pilot training at 22, qualified as a pilot on the Osprey attack fighter, serving until the type was retired from Navy service.
After serving for a while as a senior flight instructor in the Facece system, he was invited into the Pilot's Federation in 3301.
He then went on to support princess Aisling Duval in her claim for the Imperial throne, continuing in the princess' service for over two years after the crowning of Emperor Arissa Lavigny-Duval.
When his time in the princess' service was up, he entered the Imperial Navy Reserve in late 3304.
In late 3307, he applied to have his Navy commission reactivated, and received command of his old starship, the INV Indefatigable.
