Daniel was born to Sally and Carter Jackson onboard their Deep-Space exploration ship, The Duchess. Whilst he was still just an infant, the ship sustained massive hull and systems damage whilst traversing a Lagrange Cloud. With The Duchess' drives disabled, Sally and Carter sent out an SOS which was received by the a traveling mechanic. Despite their best efforts, they could not arrive before both Sally and Carter passed away from the ships life support failing. In their final act, they loaded Daniel into an escape pod and ejected him into space. Daniel was later recovered by the mechanic investigating the SOS. Being only an Infant and now an orphan, the mechanic couldn't bring themselves to turn over Daniel to the authorities and instead chose to raise Daniel as their own.

Growing up with this mechanic gave Daniel a lot of experience in ship mechanics, with him quickly becoming top of his class in engineering, and as soon as he turned 17, companies like Core Dynamics and Lakon Spaceways headhunted him. Daniel turned down these offers, and instead deciding to build out his combat skills as a mercenary, under the employ of both the Federation and Empire. After Fighting an immoral war, Daniel decided to pick his contracts more carefully. Now a well-rounded and battle hardened Commander, Daniel found a group known as The Hull Seals - a group of space mechanics who help those with damaged hulls. Inspired by his parent figure, he signed up to join them. Since then, Daniel has responded to many calls for help from other CMDRs throughout the galaxy. When asked why he does it, all he has to say is "The job is its own reward". Driven by the loss of his parents, Daniel prides himself on his speedy responses.
