An ex-Federal Navy retired officer, who through numerous diplomatic postings in Alliance territory, followed his conscience and joined the AEDC. This choice came about after a period of time, post-retirement, as a trader-courier-combat pilot. During this time, Rick was approached by his previous employer to conduct off-the-books "contract" work across the Bubble, further cementing his growing disenchantment with the values of the Federation that were, in effect, the values of the ruling Plutocracy that had governed the Federation's expansion since it's inception in Sol.

Rick spends much of his off-operations time at White Terminal orbital in the LHS 274system, while tinkering with his old Earth family business of crafting single malt whiskeys and fine bourbons from Scotland.

His previous operational and military attaché experience as a Federation Navy officer (both off and on-planet, working closely with the Federal Marine Corp's Marine Forces Special Operations Command at Eta Cassiopeiae) now focuses on co-ordinating and executing sensitive (and sometimes covert and hazardous) AEDC trade and courier missions, centering on the LHS 274-Wolf 397-Cupinook triangle of systems.
