Journey into the Beyond: Melyni Shade

Melyni Shade, known as 'Midnight' amongst her friends and some of her enemies, is an avid explorer and exobiologist of the galaxy. With a fierce look in her eyes, she seeks to explore every inch of the galaxy and to study every bit of exobiology she can .

Born on the Ocellus Starport Galileo orbiting the Moon of Earth or Luna in Sol in the year 3284, Melyni had a vast fixation of becoming a pilot or better yet, a Commander in her own right. Her dream came true, just shy of her eighteenth birthday in the year 3302, with her earning her license and being granted the title of Commander.

Up until her twenty-third birthday in the year 3307, her life was rather dull. Performing odd jobs here and there until she saved up enough credits for her first ship, the Asp Explorer. Immediately after her purchase, she took off into the stars on her first solo expedition towards a location that always caught her eye in various holos and datapad entries, the Crab Nebula. Her first solo expedition was a blast, jumping from one star system to the next until she reached her destination. She spent quite a few days there, taking numerous holo-recordings of the Crab Pulsar before finally leaving. Her journey back was almost uneventful, save for when she made a rookie mistake, she ran out of fuel. Fortunately for Melyni, a Commander ,who was part of the Fuel Rats, came to her rescue and transfered fuel to her ship. Slightly demoralized by her mistake, she kept to the Bubble for awhile, unintentionally earning her first Elite Wings in the Trade career path.

In 3308, Melyni, with the intention of earning her Elite Wings in Exploration, made the decision to purchase an Anaconda and fit it for exploration and set her eyes on traveling to Sagittarius A*. For a month straight, she worked her way at a slow but steady pace, scanning each and every planetary body she managed to find before finally arriving at her destination. Once at Sagittarius A*, she immediately laid in a course for Colonia, to turn in her data. Arriving at Colonia, she had gathered enough data which granted her the badge she had desperately wanted, Elite in Exploration. Content with life, she traveled back to the Bubble and faded into obscurity, keeping her head down until the call from Salvation rang out.

Piloting an Alliance Chieftain, Melyni was there when the Proteus Wave in HIP 22460 was activated that August 9, 3308. She barely made it out when the Thargoids she had just shutdown, were reactivated by the Proteus Wave and began to lay into her ship. Fleeing HIP 22460, Melyni opted to remain well inside of the Bubble, especially after the arrival of Taranis and the other Thargoid Titans.

Retiring from flying, Melyni opted to travel around via Apex Interstellar, resuming her old life of doing various odd jobs to keep the bills paid. It wasn't until September in the year 3310, that Melyni longed to be back in the pilot's seat and un-retired herself, setting out five thousand lightyears away from the Bubble and began the first steps into Exobiology. A month later, Melyni was on the frontlines of the Second Thargoid War, piloting her new Python MK2 and aiding other pilots with the destruction of Titan Raijin. With the fire of discovery in her eyes, Melyni has once again begun setting out into the black on her own.
