Born in 3277 as the 14th grandson of Chancellor Anders Blayne, Maeck was raised with lofty expectations of following his esteemed grandfather into Imperial politics. While educated in the finest Imperial schools, those expectations were soon dashed. Early in adolescence, Maeck showed an often unhealthy obsession with Princess Aisling Duval, decorating his room with numerous posters, including some rather revealing ones featuring the People's Princess riding a bomb with Clippers in the background. In his 2nd year of college, Maeck suddenly dropped out, pawned some rather expensive family heirlooms that his grandfather had entrusted to him, and went and bought his first Sidewinder and flew to Cubeo to find his Princess.

Today, roundly labelled as an embarrassment to his family, Maeck is a member of the Aisling's Angels and spends his time mindlessly and mostly unsuccessfully running missions in the vain hope that he will catch the attention of his obsession. Alas, on the one occasion when Princess Aisling was asked about Maeck by a desperate tabloid reporter, she replied, "Oh, is that who he is? I never can seem to recall the names on the restraining orders."
