I was born in rhea in a farmers family, i never really liked working on the fields so when I turned 17 I enlisted in the federation navy and got a degree in engineering, I was put in a battle cruiser as an apprentice mechanic in the propulsion system.
It wasn't my dream job but it was better than growing vegetables.
I spent 4 long years on the battle cruiser, at the beginning of the 5th year slf pilot vacancies opened up, I signed up as soon as I could, my superior was not very happy , he said that was a bad idea since after 5 years I could apply for subsystem central engineering and earn twice as much. I replied that I was tired of living like a tinned sardine I wanted to feel and see natural light not spend the next 10 years living inside a capsule looking at holograms and screens with images of planets.
It was at that moment that I started to see the federation's dirty side, 50 seates opened, of these 50 40 were soon occupied by academy pilots, there were 10 left for internal applications, I did my best to get the opportunity but I couldn't and that's where started, of the 11 applicants the average of the results was 82%
only two came out of the margins, I had the result of 33% and an idiot who were nephew of the admiral with 73%, it could only have been a mistake, I thought to myself, a week later I asked the Federation Pilots Academy to review my test, they did it, and came to the conclusion that someone had been wrong to put the results, my result was not 33% but 83%, they apologize but because the pilot's licenses already have been issued there was nothing they could do, they promised that next time I was automatically approved. the problem is that the next time only happens in 2 years.
A few months later we were deployed to a system that was under attack by terrorists.
The system was controlled by a friendly faction of the federation which is under attack, our function was to serve as a control point and search all ships to check if they were carrying something stolen or if they were wanted for some crime.
We didn't have many problems and during the time we were posted there were only two instances that some pirates got together to try to get us out of the system.
At the end of our deployment we were given a search mission, someone made an anonymous complaint that one of the factions that was helping to evacuate refugees due to the attacks was also transporting terrorists who were trying to escape the system, the inconvenience was that this faction was allied with the empire, a delicate situation. A few hours later we received coordinates from a possible ship that was transporting terrorists. The normal procedure would be to scan the ship and if we find something or someone illegal you order the ship to disable the FSD, shields and thrusters then an assault team would come aboard and seize any illegal or wanted item or passenger, this is what supposed to have happened but when we intercepted the designated ship we were given the order to redirect energy to the weapons, no matter where you are in a Farragut class when the weapons fire you can feel the vibration and pulse of the energy in the transport pipes, in less then 15 seconds since we intercepted the ship and the scan started, the order was given to obliterate the ship carrying refugees and terrorists, nothing was left, even the pilot's injection pod was destroyed, two days later when we docked at a refueling station I resigned from the Federal Navy, in the following months there was a huge investigation that involved a large part of the crew, many ended up serving time, the investigation concluded that it was the weapons officer who gave the order to open fire, but during the testimony some gunners swore that the admiral himself gave the order, although the prosecution concluded that these were false and tried to cover up the officer. , these were convicted of murder and are still serving their sentence today, I only know that throughout the investigation the recordings of the black box that included the control bridge and the CIC were never shown in court or to the public, many speculate that were erased by the admiral seens he is the only one on the ship that can access the black box outside the dry dock.
A few months later I signed up with the pilots federation, I am now an independent pilot trying to follow my values.
