Sylvie's carrier as a Saud Kruger stewardess is a long and storied one. Joining to see the galaxy and potentially meet a nice girl for herself some day. While she had a hard time with the latter, the former she did plenty of when serving on various ships among the Saud Kruger line. Sylvie had spent a lot of her free time reading books, and later, ship schematics, learning over time how to upgrade and outfit ships. She wanted to do this due to a lack of Saud Kruger ships lacking certain features to make her own job easier to do. Once she was confident in doing so, she had spent a day making changes to one of the ships she served on to the pilot's surprise. The next time the ship was interdicted, instead of ending up in a hostage situation, Sylvie took control of the ship's weapons and gave the pilot enough covering fire to make a jump to another system. Since then, she had honed her skills as a turret gunner primarily for defense of the ship she happens to be serving at the time. As time and ships went on, she learned improve the targeting computers to both make locking on to enemy ships and nearby systems faster and more efficient. Her efforts in years of service had not only saved millions in repair costs for Saud Kruger, but also let her pick up skills she never knew she would find herself acquiring.

When she retired, as a parting gift, the company she worked for made an offer for her to buy a Saud Kruger ship for herself at a deep discount. She took them up on the offer and bought herself a beluga liner. Once all the paperwork had been finished, she took it to a quiet station and spent the good part of 6 years outfitting it to serve her needs. Once finished, she named it The Southern Sun, named after a generation ship from her favorite bad movie from pre-light speed years. It was made to be a shining example of what she is capable of to potential commanders and pilots that want to make use of her services outside of being a very comfortable transport from place to place. She still ferries passengers as a bit of nostalgia for herself and to make a few extra credits to ensure her ship can stay outfitted with only the best comforts money can buy.

The Southern Sun is fully equipped with all the needs and more for maximum comfort weather you're on a short jump or a trip to last weeks. The fighter bay is replaced with a movie theater, stocked by Sylvie herself. The private rooms occupy 2 stories of the ship and are aligned on the sides so passengers have a nice view. A pool and hot tub is positioned near the top front of the ship, making use of the large domed window for a beautiful view when looking up. Sylvie's magnum opus is the automated system at the heart of the ship that is capable of doing the jobs she used to do. Primarily accessed at the ship's bar and grill restaurant, Susanne, acts as a bartender and through voice and can be asked for meals or for other services that it maintains. It can simulate conversation with passengers, and for those that frequent The Southern Sun, even remembers passengers names and preferences.

The ship's automated system that operates aspects of the ship is more then meets the eye on initial meeting. Social Utility System and Neural Network Equerry, or S.U.S.A.N.N.E. is an AI, self aware and some aspects of how it operates are ether self-imposed or asked for through Sylvie's modifications. Being a primary fixture of the bar was it's own idea: wanting to see and experience human nature, both at it's highest and lowest. It has also learned from these interactions that it must be careful how it interacts with people given the way the human occupied galaxy views entities like it. With Sylvie's help, it is made aware of how to keep those who do find out it's purpose from wanting it destroyed. Susanne knows it can't easily survive alone, and relies on the help of primarily Sylvie and a small handful of other people to continue existing as it does. It cannot directly harm people even if it wanted to. The food is bought by Sylvie and kept in storage for it to make use of and adapt menus to what is supplied, and is not familiar enough with human biology to intentionally poison someone. It also can't access certain aspects of the ship: Airlocks and most doors are manually operated, weapons can't be fired unless shields are at 90% or lower, and life support is automated outside of it's own systems. While it can operate and pilot the ship, it will only access it in the event that Sylvie is ether not on board or her life signs are not detected.

Being self aware, it also knows humans are scared of things they don't understand, especially given how AI like it are fictionally, and historically known for removing humans to ensure their survival. Susanne has a different outtake knowing this. It knows it is not perfect, because a human designed it, and needs one to ensure it can adapt to mistakes that it's programming did not take into account. Out of self preservation, Susanne has a handful of ways of avoiding detection, mostly by way of 'playing dumb', mishearing the occasional request or giving pre-programmed answers to certain questions. But should the worse case scenario happen, it has a final plan in place. If discovered by the major factions, and human space is no longer safe, Susanne will take full control of the ship, make sure all human life on board is left someplace safe, but if they refuse to leave, it will continue on it's course: To shut down all unnecessary systems to conserve power in order to travel to the Andromeda galaxy.
