Born on Vanayequi A 2 to parents Michal and Rebecca of the Vahle family, he was raised in the industrious yet comfortable life provided for by the family business. Showing an early interest in star gazing and the universe at large, he quickly finished grade schooling at the age of 16 and went off world for 2 years to study at the Federal Academy in Madyanmana. Showing great interest in a multitude of topics including, science, history, economics and politics, he graduated with a mix degree and returned home. His family had expected him to join the ranks of the family business, but were surprised when he suddenly expressed his desire to join the Federal Navy. Surprised, but not supportive, many in the family had served a tour in the Navy. Joe even remarks that it was his grandfather's service that inspired him to sign up. Joining up for a 4 year tour he served on a number of patrol ships and a brief stint on a Farragut Battlecruiser. He only saw combat a few times, just a few pirates. While never reaching a rank in the Navy higher then Midshipman, he gaining a love of traveling through the stars and after being discharged he entered training with the Pilots Federation to become a CMDR. After only a year of training he gaining the title and his first sidewinder and began his journey from Aprha. Now a proud pilot serving under Federation President Winters, he travels as a successful trader, a skilled combatant, and a influential diplomat, along with really anything else. To him, all the Federation is his home, and he is proud to call himself a Federal citizen and a registered Federal Agent.

The Vahle family is an ancient one stretching all the way back to old Earth. After WW3 the family's ancestors lived a meager existence, not in poverty but far from secure. That is until the chance to take a step into the stars arrived. The Vahle family joined a colonization mission of Vanayequi and the newly terraformed world it housed. As one of the first colonist families and thanks to their industrious and dedicated work, tenacity to survive on a new world, and innovations and technological achievements, their colonial charter granted them a massive tract of land on the planet, nearly a whole continent worth. When the Brithright Wars began in 2621 the family, thanks to its business connections, was able to strike a deal with a number of influential corporations, including Sirius Corporation. The deal allowed the family to retain their land, and in return became a preferred trading partner with many of the companies offering them preferential rates for many products and services, which had grown to include agriculture, industry, manufacturing and even entertainment. Thanks to this, the family retains their colonial claims to this day, allowing them to have a stable and profitable business. Even though, to this day, the family still works hard, every member is expected to contribute in some way, from the highest levels of management, to working the fields, some do it because they find fulfillment in a good days work. The family has great respect for the Federation and great pride in it. While uncommon, its not unheard of for members to join the Navy for a tour, and rarely some family members set out to join the Pilots Federation and become CMDRs.
