Born out in the abyss of space, Esquiel's family ran cargo on various ships where she spent to much time. But like most spacer-born kids she learned the trade and found a love for the stars and the void between them. Eventually, her parents settled on some no-name colony as her parents got older and her father was injured, yet again. It wasn't some story of corporate greed vs. safety, nor was it anyone's fault. It was just one of those things that happen.

Her father taught her all the finer points of the trade, how to be a mechanic, work deals, and how to hold her own in a bar fight. While her mother made her one of the most educated people on the ships they worked and probably the smartest one in their colony. She taught her navigation and engineering. Between the two she was well-rounded and when she came of age she signed up to earn her pilot's license. During this time she found work on the same carrier that her folks had raised her on, the Lachman. She'd call this place home until her advanced classes took her to the Pilots Federation District and final graduation.
