Her fathers status and accolades afforded their family every station one could hope to obtain in their wealth class with his genius breakthrough in a hull plating technology for Lakon Spaceways class vessels, allowing for a more balanced thermal load on the engines on their infamous line of heavy hauling space faring vessels the Type-9's and Type-10's, it is here Nora found herself on the planetary port of Clifford Exchange, a remote manufacturing colony in the Ghekreep system. Her father, stationed here to oversee the outfitting and assembly of his technological breakthrough on the latest line of ships, was rarely present in Nora's early childhood, often leaving the raising of Nora to her mother Otsana, and trusted friends and family.
A woman of no few accolades, Otsana was a studied and well achieved botanist in her own regard, learning and unlocking the many secrets and potential medical properties of the exobiology lifeforms found across the stars. Many a night she would be found in the bio-labs of Clifford Exchange, or was called off world to report on new exobiology investigations and data reported to the Pilots Federation.
The few times Nora did see her parents they were constantly drilling her with information on spaceship engineering and biologial lifeforms, this helped Nora become exceedingly proficient in computer technologies, ships operations systems, biological informations, plant datas, and genetic distribution in regards to a galactic level.
Both of her parents being exceptionally busy, this left Nora many a time, in the hands of friends and family who could watch over her, this often led to Nora having bouts of depression and feeling abandoned by her parents, she grew jealous of other children able to have a normal happy life, and her grades and attendance to schooling started to slip, then became non-existent all together. By the year 3293 Nora had grown sick of constantly being abandoned by her family for their work, and set her mind to stow away on a freighter vessel set to leave Clifford Exchange, and get a taste of freedom she so desperately craved.
Determined, she used her budding computer knowledge and hacked the data information panel of a galactic standard tonnage container unit, and stowed inside a Lakon Spaceways Type-6 set for Vasupalinni. Upon arrival and unload at Greenland Vision she was quickly found out during the unload process. Pending delinquency charges the station sought to charge her as a full adult for theft and mis-appropriation of goods for her own personal gain. In an act of absolute mercy the CMDR of the Type-6, one CMDR Xander Sharpley, a pilot of venerable age and skill paid her fees under the table allowing Nora to maintain a clean record, but in return she would crew with him aboard the 'Fat Cat' as a member of his crew to work off the credits lost due to her act.
Seeing this as an absolute positive win, she signed aboard immediately and without hesitation, seeking the life of a independent pilot, free from the bonds and responsibilities of every day drudging life. She served for many years aboard the 'Fat Cat' absorbing all knowledge she could possibly gain from Xander, and staying on with him as a member of his crew even after her debt had been worked off.
By year 3298 Nora was getting tired of Xander, the now old pilot had begun to become more irritable and boresome, often taking the most boring and mind numbing missions to haul survival equipment to lone planetary outposts only in the safe districts and systems. Nora craved for more, more to see, more to do, she knew life in the black called to her, and so with some money she had saved, enrolled herself in the Pilots Federation training course.
It is here she really excelled, having many opportunities to prove herself in the training courses, she far exceeded the expectations of her course instructors, and scored top 10th percentile among her graduating class in 3300. With a official ranking of CMDR, she set her eyes to the black, and in her Pilots federation issued Sidewinder set to make a name for herself.
The itching desire to prove herself led her to hear of rumors about a grand expedition unlike any before, a undertaking by hundreds of independent commanders to chart a course through the unknown voids of space, this sounded like just the thing she could use to prove herself. With a bout of determination she used her knowledge of trade routes from her time with Xander to haul commodities around the ports and systems until she had earned the rank and credits necessary to outfit a ship for deep space exploration, and set out on the Nebulae Research Voyages.
The three month expedition left her haggered and exhausted by the end of it. Organization had broken down among the ranks, and many pilots had abandoned the initiative all together, but Nora kept on, and when she returned to the civilized section of space, she found herself homesick. Returning to Ghekreep she made her way to Townshend Gateway, the Coriolis starport that now marked her home system. Turning in her ships navigation data, she was promoted to the rank of Elite for her efforts in charting the stars.
Rank, credits, and respect, her hard work had paid off. But she had been gone for so long she wondered if her family would remember her. Returning to Clifford Exchange, she sought out her old home, friends, and family, and was dismayed to learn the family she left behind, was no longer alive.
In the year 3297 while she flew with Xander, a deadly bacterial plague had beset the colony, most of its inhabitants succumbed to death in minutes of exposure, her parents were among the deceased. Seeking a friend in the now lonesome feeling void, she sought out Xander, and was once again left heartbroken to find the once lively pilot had the last scrapes of strength in his body. A rare form of cancer, due to years of exposure to the lack of thermal insulation had left Xander in a weakened state, frail and destitute. She did not have long to see him, before he too breached the veil of death.
Feeling more alone than ever Nora turned to drinking, violence, and excessive drug use. She found herself slipping, and before long was running herself into the wrong side of the law. The once hailed explorer had now turned to piracy and crime to pay for her increasing debt to credit sharks, and loaners for her violence and drug use.
By the year 3302, during a period of time where her drug dependency came to a lull due to a lack to a lack of funds, Nora found herself sobering up enough to realize she had been throwing her life away wallowing in pity and despair. Knowing what she had to do, she decided on a goal, to return to what she knew and loved, "The Black". Stealing a vast shipment of stolen medical chemicals from the pirate gang she had been running with she flew her re-stolen cargo to its original destination, and quickly sweet talked herself up as a bounty hunter, and having legally retrieved the cargo, got payment for her "work" and wired it to her debtors. With no time to lose, and a angry pirate organization on her heels she hid herself among the ranks of a vast roster of independent pilots and joined the Galactic Nebula Expedition of 3302.
Records are vague from this point till 3304, but judging by her Universal Cartographic data transfers it is believed she jumped from expedition to expedition in order to stay away from possible pursuant's, or simply to get lost. In the year 3304, Nora recieved a communication from a friend of her father's, the tensions in Ghekreep had become tense and many political factors began to emerge in the system contesting for control. Joining her Father's friend after a series of expeditions, she used her vast wealth and reputation to outfit herself a gunship, and alongside several Independant CMDRS, became a member of the Nova Syndicate. Fighting for control of Ghekreep and its surrounding systems she spent the next few years doing miscellaneous work and contracts for the Syndicate, even rising to the ranks of Leader among the political power.
Upon the release of the Brewer Industries Drake Class Carriers in 3307 Nora felt the mysterious pull of 'The Black' Pulling her back. Commissioning a scientific vessel, she began Charting a course among the DSSA which she volunteered her vessel to become a fixed point in, for explorers in the galactic region known as 'The Abyss' to seek a safehaven to rest and repair. Safely aboard her new vessel, Nora set out, and was not seen or heard from again until 3309.
It is unknown what befell Nora in that expanse of space, all she can remember is waking in the Pilots Federation Commander Recuperation and Body Regeneration Ward, groggy, light headed, and only slightly confused.
Apparently due to a galactic scale mishandling of data transference, all of her accolades, credits, fleet, and even her carrier were no longer registered to her name. She had a true fresh start in a wide galaxy. Combining her knowledge and skills, and with a smile on her face, she set to prove herself once more, and re-obtain what was once hers.
