Kyarrah Semova was born on Mars, at the heart of the Federation. The girl had a comfortable upbringing, and her parents encouraged her to follow her dreams and find what made her happy. Her father, Alec Semova, is the head of Semova Synthetics, a company that supplies synthetic polymers to other manufacturers for everything from clothing to starship interiors, and from him, she learned much about supply and demand, as well as arbitrage, which she would one day put to use in her career as a pilot. Kyarrah's mother, Thalyssa Semova, provided her moral center, teaching her daughter that respecting the law does not necessarily mean obeying it, and that sometimes the right thing and the legal thing are not the same. Ferrix Semova, a Lieutenant in the Federal Navy Engineer Corp, imparted to his niece a fondness for tinkering with machines and electronics while attempting to steer her towards enlisting in the Engineer Corp, but the girl had her own dreams of venturing out into the stars. To say she holds the same moral and political views as her family would be a stretch, but Kyarrah greatly appreciates the lessons taught to her and the freedom they have given her to find her own path.

Born blind, Kyarrah spent her formative years accustomed to the black. At the age of 10, however, she received her first pair of cybernetic ocular implants, opening her eyes to the world for the first time. Ever since then, Kyarrah has been making up for lost time and wants to see everything the universe has to offer. To that end, she trained to become the pilot of her very own starship.
