Born on Duamta 4, Rayne grew up in relative comfort to the average citizen of the Federation. His father a chemical engineer and his mother a nurse, they did not have too many worries in regards of survival. At an early age Rayne showed great interest in space travel, having a great passion for astronomy. His parents, seeing this in their son, pushed him to pursue his dreams in such a way that he could have a career doing what he loved and also not have to worry of financial struggles. His mother wanted him to pursue the path to college, while his father wished for him to join the Federal Military. On his eighteenth birthday, Rayne decided to follow the his father's preference and joined the Federal Navy.

Rayne spent the next four years learning a great deal in the Federal Navy. He learned the basics of ship flight controls, hand-to-hand and CQC combat, and worked in the engineering corps. Rayne proved his abilities time and again and worked his way up the chain of command. By the time he was closing in on the end of his enlistment, Rayne had earned the rank of Lieutenant. He was planning on continuing his career in the Federal Navy, until an old friend, Commander Brilliam, reached out to him offering him an opportunity: to be a Freelance Commander of the Galactic Bubble and set his own course in the galaxy. Rayne was enticed by these prospects and decided to leave the Federal Navy upon the expiration of his Federal enlistment.

At first his parents were hesitant of this decision: afraid of the unpredictability of freelance work. Rayne assured his parents that he may struggle, but he will not fail. With Rayne's assurances, his parents approved his decision and sent him on his way.
