He never knew what he wanted to do when he grew up and attended college in a haze, always doing well in classes but never really caring about focusing on anything. The idea of space exploration never really crossed his mind despite his early desire to get away from Earth. Then he met her... in an astronomy class in college.

Lisa was her name. He liked being in her presence, he liked talking to her, and he liked sleeping with her. After college she planned on moving to Mars, and he planned on going wherever she did. They moved to Mars together but he just drifted along from job to job never quite feeling like he'd found the right fit. Lisa however had started work as a scientist for Aegis and studying Bio-Mechanics in low gravity. She was climbing the professional ladder, becoming a prominent scientist and building a larger social circle. Arther just... was.

Eventually Lisa left him for another scientist at Aegis. Arthur wasn't very surprised but he was hurt to the core of his being. He didn't LIKE anyone else and his only friend was gone. He started to ask himself why he hadn't gone to see the stars that he loved staring at so much when he was growing up. That was when he found flight school and realized that not only was he good at it, he LOVED it. It was the first time he ever felt a passion for anything. It was the exact freedom he had been wishing for as a boy in that field.

He never looked back.
