They raised him with all their knowledge of trading and exploring. However the most important thing for Steyla to learn was about his real parents. To study the craft of trading and exploring he was sent to the ‘Great Explorers and Trading School’ in Lee City, Jera System. Where he graduated and received his pilot's license from the Independent Pilots Federation. To help him in his first steps as a trader, Lucius, his foster father, gave him his old Viper Mark IV. Which was a big step up to the Sidewinder he was used to from the trading School. Though he was successful in his trading efforts he grew more and more restless and frustrated because he was unable to gather information about his true parents. He descended into a darker mood and became known as somebody one should stay away from. Steyla was implicated in several murders but there was never enough proof to convict him. Realising that his foster son was slipping into a life of crime, Lucius asked Steyla to meet him in the Junga system. Arriving at the Junga system Steyla learned that his foster father had been interdicted and killed. Steyla rushed home to comfort his foster mother. Though he was fuelled by the desire for revenge, his foster mother, Vipsania, was able to convince him that violence only breeds more violence. Realising it was his fault that led to his foster father's death he pledged never to be the first to attack ever again.
But that was easier said than done. He was rich. He was a successful trader. But his partners and contracts were not of the kind you can just turn away from. Steyla left anything behind anyway. He turned his highly engineered Anaconda towards the brightest stars and jumped into the great dark. He needed time for himself. Over the years he met several commanders and for while he called Beagle Point his home. The calmness of the farthest parts of the Galaxy made him peaceful and content. However, a traveler from the Nu Kuni system brought the sad news of his foster mother's passing. He had inherited his foster parents small fortune and he decided to go home again.
Steyla set up his home base in its foster parents house in the Nu Kuni system and restarted his trading business. During his trading travels he was approached by several factions and political parties but he was not ready to permanently settle yet. He was still looking for his birth parents. Finally a well paid informant, scouting the Empire database including those parts that are usually not public found a link to a high ranking Senator and his wife that was rumored to have abandoned her son while on vacation in the Nu Kuni system. Steyla travelled to Yaroklis but was refused an audience with the Senator. He bribed his way into the senator's house and demanded answers. The Senator outraged challenged Steyla for satisfaction. Remembering his promise to his late foster mother, Steyla refused. The Senator raised his beautifully engraved double sided sword for a deadly strike. When a woman seemingly coming out of nowhere threw herself into the milee. The woman identified herself as Sophelia, the lady of the house, the sister of the Senator's wife who had passed several years ago. Steyla was lightly wounded. His shirt torn in the scuffle, his shoulder bleeding, but this was not important. Sophelia recognizing the birthmark, now visible on his shoulder, realized that Steyla was indeed her sisters son as it was her Sophila who had taken the baby to the Nu Kuni System.
Sophelia made the Senator realize that Steyla was and is part of the family. And after Steyla pledging his loyalty he was made into a Duke. Though his foster parents would always have a sacred place in his heart. He had finally found his real family.
