Mhera was abandoned as a infant. Her origins are not entirely known. She was adopted by Saiti and Abraham Bathana. Saiti was barren and could not have children of her own, which she desperately wanted. Both Saiti and Abraham are researchers, scientists and artists. They cultivated a love for the exploration of the universe into their children. Mhera grab a hold of that love  and has run with it. Brunai also adopted, has become an accomplished artist and musician.

Mhera attended the University of Haraiva, where she accomplished advanced degrees in Astrobiology, and Molecular biology. She completed post doctoral work in the field of Xenobotony. After graduation she applied to her alma mater where she was accepted with full professorship. She was recently awarded her second research grant, to catalog Xenoplants, and their properties in collaboration with Dr. Camille Drake.
Dr. Camille Drake is Mhera's closet friend. They were an inseparable pair growing up, and although Mhera pursued a degree in the sciences, Dr. Drake, became a medical physician.
