Luzera "Smitty" Smith
Born on December 9, 3388 in Cubeo
Luzera Smith, known to most as “Smitty,” was born into a family with the stars in their blood. Daughter of Maggy Bernard, a daring test pilot, and Antonio Smith, a respected professor of human history at the Imperial University of Cubeo, Luzera grew up immersed in both the sciences of spacefaring and the history of humanity’s triumphs and tragedies.
From her mother, Luzera inherited an early passion for piloting. She spent much of her childhood exploring the intricacies of spacecraft, learning the ins and outs of handling vessels even before most children her age had mastered land vehicles. Though her father, with his vast knowledge of ancient Earth and the events leading up to the Golden Age of Space and the Third World War, instilled in her a deep curiosity about humanity’s origins, it was her mother’s daring legacy she felt destined to follow.
At just 14, Luzera was accepted into the prestigious Royal Officers Academy of Cubeo, becoming one of the youngest graduates in its storied history. But fate had other plans. Shortly after her 18th birthday, her mother mysteriously disappeared, leaving no trace and plunging Luzera into a profound crisis. Devastated and feeling betrayed by the Imperial Fleet, she left behind the life she had been building within the Empire.
After working as the captain of a tourist vessel in Robigo for a time, Luzera finally saved enough credits to buy the ship she had long dreamed of—the Krait Phantom, named in honor of 20th-century explorer Amelia Earhart. Though she’d turned her back on the Imperial Fleet, circumstances often drew her into military skirmishes where she found herself supporting the Empire once more. Her efforts did not go unnoticed, and in gratitude, the Empire granted her permission to bear its mark on her suit, a rare honor considering her dishonorable discharge from service.
Now, three years have passed since her mother vanished without a trace. Despite the dangers she faces in the depths of space, Luzera never stops searching, keeping a silent hope alive that one day she might uncover the truth behind her mother’s fate.
