Hunter was born under the red glow of Arcturus in 3276. His father was a ship mechanic and his mother was a station nurse. Like many poor children who grow up in stations, Hunter and his friends explored the Orbis station from the inside, crawling through forgotten maintenance shafts and electrical conduits. Exploring these spaces comes with its risks though and during one expedition a rusty high tension cable snapped and slapped Hunter in the face, fortunately missing his eyes but leaving a nasty scar from forehead to cheek. His mother was able to patch him up but forbid him from exploring further. His father started taking him to the hanger from then on out to keep an eye on him. It was in the hanger that his interest in technology grew and he quickly took after his father. He soon fell in love with the various ships that came and left Fort Harrison and their inner workings. Dropping out of school he joined his father in the hanger and soon the duo gained a reputation for tuning up Frame Shift Drives. In 3299, a Farragut-Class Battle Cruiser was passing through Arcturus on a diplomatic transit when it experienced drive troubles. After shuttling in mechanics from the stations, including Hunter and his father, they were able to get get the drive back online but a failed breaker sent a power surge to the reactor. As emergency sirens blared and Federation personnel ran to evacuate, the mechanics and engineers ran to the drive knowing full well if it went critical no one could clear it in time. Before any evacuation pods could even launch they were able to bring the drive under control. During the ordeal Hunter had jumped, quite literally, inside the drive but kept calm even as energy arcs encircled him an played a critical role in relaying the core's state allowing for the team to succeed. This, along with his young age amongst the old salts, caught the attention of a Federation officer who offered a scholarship in recognition of his efforts. After being encouraged by his teary eyed parents to go live the life they never got to have, he accepted the offer and went to Sol. Pouring his efforts into his studies he graduated with a degree in Hyperluminal Engineering from the Gagarin Institute of Technology and completed a Frame Shift Drive mechanic apprenticeship in at the Glenn University Dock.

During his studies he was able to save every credit due to his scholarship and after finishing his apprenticeship he used his savings to become a licensed member of the Pilots Federation in an attempt to grow his credit balance further to provide for his family back at Arcturus. He quickly switched out his leased Sidewinder and, like many early Commanders, attempted to try the high stakes combat the bubble has to offer. Hunter picked up an Eagle MkII but found he did not possess the piloting skill necessary to make a living with combat, barely able to take down a bounty target even with System Security loitering about. Fortunately he was able to ride on their coattails long enough to save up some more funds to try a new field. He purchased a Cobra MKIII and, much to his mother's delight, got out of combat and started to trade, bringing business back to Arcturus. It was shortly after this he took a long range courier mission and, after delivering the data package, just continued traveling up and out of the bubble where. Getting as high as he could above the galactic plane he looked out across the sea of stars and found his calling with exploration. Determined to see the galaxy he started to raise his balance and reputation solely from exploring the space near the bubble.

Using some of his growing funds and pooling credits with contacts gained from his alma mater and apprenticeship, he and a team built a small engineering outpost on a moon in the [REDACTED] system. There they continued to refine their knowledge of the frame shift drive and studied the effects of neutron star supercharging, high curvature space-time near black holes, frame shift drive wake properties, hyperluminal flight, hyperspace tunneling, and impact of long duration use of frame shift drives. It was during this time that Hunter started exploring further outside the bubble to collect data for these experiments. One of these was assessing the potential to jerry rig multiple smaller sized FSDs together to create a hybrid drive to simulate a larger size. During one such experiment in 330[REDACTED], when experimenting on a set of jerry rigged supercharged FSDs, they went critical. The sudden core collapse tore open a hyperspace tunnel which only opened momentarily before quickly collapsing due to being in the moon's gravity well. The outpost's atmosphere had been vented for the experiment but the force of the wall of energy from the core collapse ripped it apart, sending debris and bodies across the surface. Those who weren't crushed by debris or had their suits shredded and exposed to vacuum succumb to their wounds while lying on the surface before help could arrive. System Security patrolling the area claimed to have seen an incredibly bright but short lived flash of light leading to a rapid response. Upon arrival they found the site and noted the epicenter was surprisingly intact compared to its surroundings. While collecting the bodies they could find, they found Hunter, his body still practically inside the drive. They freed his leg from some support equipment that had fallen on it and pulled him free. His suit severely compromised, melted and charred, and his face behind the visor was also burned but he was alive! They rushed him to [REDACTED] and after weeks of surgery and intensive care for his burns he was transferred to rehab. The indecent had left him blinded and he elected to get a cybernetic implant in his right eye but his left remained blinded. After learning to use his cybernetic eye and walk again, although with a limp, he was able to regain his flight certification. Amongst other commanders his blind eye earned him the nickname "White Eye". During an investigation of the incident, SysSec asked why he hadn't gotten another implant to which he responded "[REDACTED], I still want to see, [REDACTED].".

After the incident on [REDACTED] Hunter became reclusive, feeling responsible for the deaths of his colleagues and suffering survivors guilt. While the details had been obfuscated to the public, the engineering outpost was never a secret. Due to the mysteries surrounding FSDs and hyperspace (often known as Witch-space) to the general public, rumors started to spread. These included that he had been through Witch-space and that his "White Eye" could see frame shift drive wakes and trails, and even beyond the veil of the walls of the hyperspace tunnels. To escape this and clear his head he purchased a Diamondback Explorer and left the bubble. Over the next three-quarters of a year he performed a circumnavigation around the Milky Way. He fully scanned and mapped every system he entered (totally 55,714 scans across 5,190 systems). Seeing the wonders the galaxy had to offer: the dancing of the neutron star jets, the blaring light of the white dwarves, the warm glow of carbon stars, the mind boggling gravitational power of black holes, and the vast variety of planets from the most inhospitable lava worlds to near mirrors of home Earth-like worlds. Seeing the wonders of the galaxy put him in a better place and by the time he returned to the bubble in late-3304 the rumors had been mostly forgotten. His return did make waves in the scientific community as he sold his exploration data, raising over 6 billion credits practically overnight. Most of this was funneled to give his parents a better life, moving them from the station's core to its habitation ring into a modest home. They greatly appreciated the new lease on life given them but the tears that fell that day were not from gifts of credits but from joy to see their child smile again.

In short order the Pilots Federation awarded Hunter several permits and his Elite Wings in Exploration as he sold his data to eager factions. It was during this time an old colleague recommended he look into joining Canonn Interstellar Research. The group of scientists and like minded individuals quickly caught his attention and after compiling the findings of his expedition he approached them. To his surprise the group was incredibly inviting and his application was quickly approved even without presenting his data package. After submitting his records, the explorer group took note of his meticulous data logging and dedication of exploration, earning him a place amongst their ranks. Like all Canonneers he visited The Gnosis megaship and fell in love with the science vessel. Since she was purpose-built to house a group of mad scientists she is surprisingly robust and modular, with easy access to all sub-systems. The corridors with open panels exposing service ways reminded Hunter of his time growing up and soon found himself crawling through the Gnosis with other engineers and tinkerers, pillaging biscuit stores and exploring the forgotten conduits, occasionally poking his head into the lab spaces from the inside. When not sharing and listening to tales from other explorers in the lounge spaces, he can often be found with the engineering crew down in the Frame Shift Drive spaces, enjoying time spent discussing the differences between the capitol class drives vs. their smaller counterparts and debating on the possibility for a biscuit powered drive. When down in these spaces during a jump sequence, several of the engineering staff have reported his blind eye seemed to [REDACTED]. He soon made many friends in Canonn, healing his wounded heart and warming him back up to interpersonal relationships, particularly amongst fellow explorers. His love for engineering also returned and he was given a standardized lab module on the Gnosis that he turned into a FSD experimentation suite. Not long after a failed micro-FSD experiment his lab space was equip with an automated lab ejection system. Canonn has made no comment regarding this addition.

While idly gnawing on a biscuit in the Gnosis concourse, watching New Africa repeatedly swing by quickly outside the window, Hunter came up with an expedition in memoriam to those who perished in the hanger accident, all those who had been lost in the black, and all those who called the void their home. One that would honor all those who shared in his passion, no matter how they partake. He used some of his remaining funds to buy and outfit a fleet of ships, consisting of one of each ship type a member of the Pilots Federation can own (with the exception of the Cobra MkIV as he did not acquire his license early enough). In doing so he build up a reputation amongst the superpowers and established contact with the highest ranked engineers supported by the Pilots Federation, some of which he knew (even if they didn't know him) from his academic life. Putting the same amount of dedicated effort and passion he put into his earlier expedition he was able to complete all ship, module, and engineering requirements in about a month. After the fleet was outfitted he painted it white and christened it The White Fleet, a tribute to fleet on Earth that sailed almost 1,400 years prior. On each dashboard he placed a figure of a male and female commander, naming them Yuri and Valentina after some of the earliest pioneers of space exploration. Finally his mother gave him a small figure of a snowflake that he added on his dashboard as well to always remind him of them. Shortly after this, things went quiet aside of radio commutation with Canonn, but he has been seen taking each ship from his fleet out in turn, coming back to the bubble about once a month before disappearing again.

After about a year in the black collecting data, Hunter announced that he was returning to the bubble after meeting an undisclosed milestone. Having been watching the Pilots Federation Leaderboards, a friendly way for squadrons to compete for holographic trophies and bragging rights, for several months he noted that he had enough data saved to give Canonn a massive leg up if he could convince others to join him. After gaining approval from the Exploration Department Head and support from the Canonn Council, Hunter lead an effort to win the seasonal leaderboard for exploration. It came as a very pleasant surprise when the group rallied around the call, out performing every expectation. The amount of points collected was so great that, at time of writing, there has never been a larger gap between first and second place on the exploration board with Hunter's data alone accounting for almost half of the total points. Even though this was Canonn's first trophy, the squadron started to support the effort more and more, going on to win second and third in the next two seasons just to collect the trophy set and then go on to win more golds and even trophies outside exploration. For his demonstrated leadership, willingness to support and help his squad mates, and love of Canonn, Hunter was promoted to an Officer of Canonn and awarded the Order of the Biscuit Tin in 3306, a station and award he humbly and excitedly accepted. After raising almost 50 billion credits from selling is exploration data, and causing his ID to be permanently flagged by Universal Cartographics for destroying their bandwidth that fateful day, he decided to purchase a Fleet Carrier. Naming it CRV Luthien, drawing inspiration from one of his favorite ancient books to read out in the black, he outfitted it for bulk trade allowing it to support the Canonn faction and squadron goals. While back in the bubble he finally got his Elite wings in Combat (with support from his more fighter oriented squad mates) and Trade (with support of the faction growth oriented squad mates). With this he was awarded the Triple Elite title which he proudly revealed to his parents back at Fort Harrison. With the whirlwind of personal activity coming to an end and the bubble buzzing with new and exciting mysteries, Hunter headed back out into the black, leaving these new mysteries in good hands as he continued on with his expedition.

In 3307, while out in the black he once again felt the itch to continue his academic career, but his expedition was still far from over. Reaching out to his professors, advisors, and colleagues from the Gagarin Institute of Technology and the Glenn University Dock he learned about a distance learning doctoral program with the Sirius Corporation Remote University for Blended Learning Opportunities and Research Doctorate Students. Reaching out he found an advisor who shared his passion for Hyperluminal Engineering and his application was accepted. Remote learning is never easy, nor is obtaining a doctoral degree, but with his passion for both learning and exploration being sated together he gladly accepted the offer. Not long afer, on January 6th, 3308, Hunter got a call from the Gnosis with an offer to join the Canonn Council. After being star struck and nearly struck by a star in the process, he calmed down and humbly accepted the offer. Knowing he spent most of his time in the black the Council had snuck their secure communication network package onto his ship the last time he had been on the Gnosis to let him keep in contact even while out in the black, with his constant exploring earning him the title "Voidwalker" amongst them. They had intended to extend the offer sooner but had forgotten the password. Fortunately it wasn't too long before they found the sticky note it was written on being used as a bookmark in Dr. Arcanonn's washroom. When joining he vowed to always bring the light of Canonn into the void and bring the knowledge buried there back to Canonn. While he's only been able to visit the Council Chambers in person a few times, there has been a noticeable uptick in biscuit crumbs found in the secure documents folders and meeting table.
