Although technically born in Ethwain, Ulon Yuanshi doesn't have clear system of origin. The Yuanshi family had been working in the interstellar transport business for many generations, meaning that his family was always on the move for most of his early childhood. This time exposed him to space travel from an early age. The Yuanshis were particularly active around the upper systems of the Bubble, placing them around Alliance space and the Old Worlds most of the time. Regardless, they did not refrain from venturing into Federal and unaligned frontier systems as well.

After the divorce of his parents in 3291, Ulon settled down with his mother on the planet "Home" in the Reorte system. He completed secondary education there soon after. While initially aiming for a career in trade in the hopes to manage his father's business one day, Yuanshi instead found fascination in economics, history and philosophy. Ulon knew the contrasts and benefits of Alliance membership compared to Federal governance or many of the unaligned autocracies he had been exposed to during his childhood travels. A time of political upheaval in Reorte and other Old Worlds systems around 3295 saw him clash with Federal supporters over his vocal political views, leading him to develop a deep feeling of patriotism for the Alliance. This was likely also inspired by his family's background and experiences in the region and the fierce competition coming from large Federal corporations.

Due to his nomadic childhood, the young Ulon struggled to establish and maintain close bonds with his peers until his late youth. Repeated fights with other students and social reservedness soon became a problem for his otherwise decent academic record. These problems culminated in him quitting his courses on law and economics at Alioth University in 3296 after eventually losing the will to study. Following a time of introspection Ulon rediscovered an interest in philosophy and psychology. Luckily this time he found like-minded partners to discuss the topics he was interested in. He started a series of travels throughout the upper systems and found himself able to forge deep connections and friendships across Alliance space. After having overcome his social difficulties, he began working as a freelance cultural correspondent around the end of the century. While his journalism earned him enough to support a modest lifestyle, he would soon become dissatisfied with his earnings and start looking for a more meaningful profession. During his travels he developed a deep interest in space travel and astrography, both of which would influence his decision to become a pilot.

Determined to make a career for himself, Ulon joined the Pilots Federation in 3301. Ironically he ended up as a transport pilot and tradesman in the first year - just what he decided to avoid with his academic studies. After supporting the Social Eleu Progressive Party in the Dangerous Games in 3302, Yuanshi decided to work for Mahon and the Alliance of Independent Systems proactively. Upon his return to Allied space, he soon linked up with similar-minded squadrons and got acquainted with combat operations. By 3303 Ulon had joined the Perez Ring Brewery squadron "Aid", where he became known for his skills as negotiator and diplomat. Within the next two years, he rose the ranks to become an official representative and fellow squadron leader.

After becoming diplomatically active, Ulon decided to resume his study of law and successfully majored in 3305. The timing around and before his arrival in the political scene was dominated by discord and political divides between many Alliance-aligned squadrons. It became Yuanshi's dedication and mission of choice to work on cohesion and cooperation across Alliance space. Over the next years he would become known as a facilitator in the creation of the Alioth Council, which he now oversees as one of the appointed administrators. The new found unity of Alliance-aligned squadrons that came with the foundation and continuous evolution of the Council has been regarded by Yuanshi as his greatest personal achievement.

Ulon is a strong advocate of international cooperation, but is also a staunch activist of Alliance values and the principle of self-determination. As diplomat he has often represented Alliance interests towards third parties and has ties across all of inhabited space. As a combat pilot he has also participated in many local conflicts himself, especially in the Old Worlds.

In 3007, Ulon formally resigned from the political realm, citing the completion of his work and a renewed focus on business and family as main reason. After an over six month break, he returned to the pilot seat as co-founder of the Zeus Ming Operations corporation in July 3308. Mining Contracts across Alliance and Imperial systems have so far been the focus of the young company, but plans to export their portfolio has been announced.
