COSA NOSTRA - (Italian: [ˈkɔːza ˈnɔstra, ˈkɔːsa -], Sicilian: [ˈkɔːsa ˈnɔʂː(ɽ)a]; "our thing"), is an - organized syndicate originating in the region of sol , dating to the 19th century. It is a loose association of a secretive, wealthy  organisation  that share a common ethic and code of conduct. Their code of conduct is known and respected througout the galaxy as the Omerta code. which is a code of honor, loyalty, courage and secrecy.  The  group is known as a "family", "clan", or cosca. Each family claims sovereignty over a territory, usually a town or village or a neighbourhood (borgata) , today they spread freedom by claiming sovereignty over star systems that have unfavourable corrupt governments.

The most succesfull of these families left sol in 3200 and made  LTT 47 their home. They have since claimed sovereignty and brought much welcomed freedom to the 12 systems around LTT 47 and this area of space is known as the Omerta Brotherhood core systems.

The fleet carriers Yawning Angel, Ark Royal and the Cosa Nostra have been commissioned into service by the Omerta Brotherhood as mobile bases to further protect and increase prosperity for the inhabitants of the Omerta Brotherhood core systems.
