Little is known about Commander Skanaby, even within Canonn itself. Rumour has it that in 3304 he was approached directly by a representative of the Canonn Council due to his reputation in the underground as a fierce mercenary and accepted top secret assassination contracts on rivals of Dr. Arcanonn. Once completed, he myseriously became a full Canonneer shortly afterwards. Before that, his roots are Imperial ones, although he has since turned his back on the Empire.

As he is one of the organisation's very few secretive and often unheard of Special Agents working for the Canonn Protection Service (CPS), his work is oft spoken about or recognised, as the missions he fulfils are usually incredibly sensitive and may bring Canonn into disrepute among the galactic community if any of them were ever discovered. He also completes hard-to-finish and long distance tasks that others do not wish to partake.

He spends long periods of time away from civilised space and sporadically returns to Varati, usually with missing munitions, heavy hull damage and unusual cargo. Although he is famous for working solo, he has been known to work alongside other Canonneers from time-to-time, as well as taking an initiate under his wing for a while to show them the ropes out in the black.

When stationed at Thompson Dock, he can be found either skulking along the lab corridors or in a dark corner of the starport dock; incognito.

The only other facts known about him:
- He is a male in his thirties.
- He speaks with an Imperial accent.
- He rarely takes his sunglasses off in public.
- He holds the rank of Senior Officer in the Canonn Squadron and Fleet Commander in the CPS.
- His space combat and survival skills are of legendary status.
- He has a knack for taking and hiding other Canonneer's biscuits when they're not looking, much to their annoyance.
