Commander Madison Maru used to lead a life in years past, with her piloting career beginning on June 27th, 3303. She began her career, under a different identity at the time with the same surname, as a humble Fuel Rat making ends meet and running occasional rescues. Aside from that she truly spent her living exploring what the galaxy had to offer, making small trips outside the bubble to explore semi-distant nebulae. Such a career continued up until she ended up making a large leap and applying as an independent photographer for the news agency Sagittarius Eye, a news magazine written by commanders for commanders. After a quick run in this position, she was approached by the chief editor Souvarine who asked if she would like giving a shot at writing breaking news articles. She agreed to do so and eventually built up a reputable number of articles and even moved on to writing entire magazine articles as well, along with scripts for the video formatted articles. After spending years writing for this group, even settling down at their newly installed asteroid base "The Printworks" in Millese to focus on writing, she eventually split ways from the group after it was decided that Sagittarius Eye would go on hiatus.

After splitting off from this group, Madison decided to spend a year or so devoted to discovering who she was, and finally came to a resolution. She walked away from her old life, selling all of her assets and undergoing an entirely new identity only keeping her previous surname along with all her credits from the sold assets. Now she spends her time in her trusty Krait Phantom, discovering the mercenary life and spending time blazing across the galaxy to finally make a name for herself.
