Matteus Aquilus Decimus Josephus, known as Mathew Joseph in Alliance and Federal Space, was born on Achenar in the year 3243 to a minor Imperial Noble Family. His father, Josephus Petrus I, is the ruler of a minor dominion on Capitol known as Novus Roma, and an ex-Officio Adjutant to the Minister of Commerce for the Achenar System. From an early age, Matteus displayed a sharp mind for numbers and economic concepts, along with a strong grasp of strategy. His father sent him to the Imperial Naval Academy in 3260, in hopes that he would learn much about rule and commerce.

By 3267, Lt. Cmdr. Josephus, know as Tigris Astra, had established himself as a solid tactician in the Imperial Navy. His skillset was particular suited to Trade Interdiction and disruption of commerce, something he put to great effect as Squadron Leader of MCMV Squadron, I Wing, III. Imperial Fleet. Nowhere was this more evident than in the offensive at 84 Ceti, where the MCMV Squadron distinguished itself in interdiction ops, putting a chokehold on blockade running, and enabling the III. Imperial Fleet to starve the system of much needed commodities, leading to an eventual surrender.

By 3270, Cpt. Josephus had earned several battle honors, and was put on Fleet Ops as Chief of Staff. He was also granted the title of Viscount, and given a small holding in Kamadhenu. Tigris Astra proved to be an astute leader, helping the small colony flourish while also assisting the III. Fleet in successful defenses against Federal counter-offensives.

In 3299, Admiral Josephus was made Deputy Commander of the III. Fleet, and the Fleet was ordered to take back 53 chi Ceti. This would mark a turning point in his career. From 3299 to 3302, the III. Fleet would engage in a brutal war of attrition over the 9.8B pop. colony. Numerous atrocities, now struck from records on both sides, gradually chipped away at the Commander's sense of pride in the Navy and rapidly jaded him to the nature of warfare within the bubble. The 53 chi Ceti campaign eventually ended in a pyrrhic Imperial victory, although the cost numbered in the millions of service personnel, not counting the hundreds of millions in civilian casualties.

Following his return to Kamadhenu, Admiral Josephus, despite protests from his staff, requested a discharge from the Imperial Navy. For his 45 years of distinguished service, he was raised to the rank of High Admiral, and granted the title of Duke, along with a generous pension of 250M credits.

Now devoid of purpose, he acquired an Imperial cutter, registered with the Pilot's Federation as Cmdr. Mathew Joseph, and set to establish a new career as an independent freelance pilot. His new career saw him involved in activities from bounty hunting, to VIP transport, to even asteroid mining. With nearly 4 billion credits worth of assets, the Cmdr. decided to return to his beloved colony and retire from spacefaring.. until now.

With the new war on the Thargoids, Cmdr. Joseph recognized the grave threat that humanity now faced. Saying farewell once more, the Cmdr. departed Kamadhenu and registered for a new Independent Wing known as "The Fatherhood", a collective of like minded and experienced commanders who were aligned on the goal of eradicating the unwelcome Xeno presence within the galactic bubble. Will this mark the end of Cmdr. Joseph's journey, or simply the beginning of a new one? We've yet to find out...
