Cmdr B4RNES is the offspring of a noble imperial family. His true identity remains unknown.

What is known about him, was uncovered by numerous intel services and journalists.

He joined the imperial navy in 3290 at the age of 19, under the alias Elias Barnes. He fought his way up the ranks as a fighter pilot.
In 3295 he took command over the INV Ellen Ripley to conduct special operations deep in federal space.
Raiding supply lines, the support of local insurgents, the creation of civil unrest, assassination missions and countless battles in combat zones was his daily bread. He was honorable discharged in 3299.

He started to work as volunteer for an NGO in 3299 were he found his wife Kathren, a federal citizen and daughter of a high ranked industrial entrepreneur. They married in 3300 and moved to the Sol system. Together they underwent search and rescue missions, medical supply runs and passenger missions.

3301, the Ellen Ripley entered imperial space and met with an imperial capital ship near Cubeo 3. Federal spies pick up a one hour long encrypted conversation between the two ships.
It is likely that Barnes tried to introduce his wife to his parents. After that, nav beacon data indicates that the Ellen Ripley left imperial space shortly after the meeting. Three days later the Ripley was attacked by unmarked Gutamaya ships in the Delta Pavonis system and suffered severe damage, but was able to repulse the attack. It's highly likely that the attack was carried out by Aislings Guardians.

In 3302 CMDR Barnes tried to join the federal navy but was imprisoned by the authorities after his background check.
He was transported to a black site for questioning and was kept there for six months.
The same year the Federal Navy made him rear admiral and gave him the command over the FNS Gomorah.

During the years 3302 to 3308 all flight records, combat logs, mission logs, regarding FNS Gomorah, are top secret and completely redacted.
However, independent journalists uncovered that the Gomorah was involved in numerous false flag operations and black ops missions, killing innocent federal and imperial citizens. The Federation denied all the involvement and issued an arrest warrant for Barnes and his wife, despite her being obviously innocent. Official statements say that Barnes wife was shot and killed during the arrest because she allegedly pulled a gun on the officers. Two hours later, according to Barnes, the Gomorah was interdicted and immediately fired upon by federal security forces.

Barnes found out about the death of his wife days later...

Wanted by the Empire and the Federation, cmdr B4RNES asked for asylum at Gabriel Station in the Harma system. He tried to drown his feelings by substance abuse at local bars and clubs, not knowing what to do with his life and with ever growing hatred against the Empire and Federation inside him...
One night he was found laying on the landing gear of his Federal Corvette by two Kumo Crew Agents. They asked him to do just one mission for them...

Now, cmdr B4ARNES is doing what he does best. Wet work for the Kumo Crew Watch and getting away with it.

Survivors of his pirate attacks describe Barnes as cold, his face is motionless, almost robotic without empathy. Factionless commanders however, report that he is polite and gave them limpets, rescue pod and other cargo as presents after he interdicted them...

Voices inside Kumo Crew say behind closed doors, that Barnes could be a double Agent for the federation and his story faked so he can infiltrate the Kumo Crew but so far, Barnes has proven to be a valuable asset to Archon Delaine...
