Klaatu was picked up in the Pleiades nebula by a salvage crew aboard the Muang's Breeze in 3275. With no memory of who he was or how he came to be drifting within the nebula. The salvage crew nicknamed him Klaatu a reference to a character from an ancient earth movie and the designation on his uniform (KLA-2). After transferring to Kaneda City in Hou Mayo he decided to keep the name. Working as external repair crew aboard the station his piloting skills were noticed by a young Anthony Corvus, then a Captain within the Imperial Navy. He subsequently joined the Imperial Navy and served seven years, reaching the rank of Duke before leaving to become an independent pilot.

Klaatu has served with various factions and super powers, including the Federation and the Alliance. As of 3304 he joined the Wolves of Jonai where he now has a home at Pribylov Port.
