The son of industrial workers based on the outpost of Castellan Station. His life was thrown into turmoil at the age of three when his parents were murdered at the hands of the Inquisition Board of Doctor Hans Walden, who attained authoritarian control of Lave in 3174. Raised by pirates and mercenaries who taught him the value of credits and salvage, they also taught him combat skills in and out of the cockpit. After deciding to leave the pirating life behind, he performed various mercenary missions joining a federal task force that did many perilous assignment during drawn out conflicts in the The 17 Dranconis and Quince Wars. Afterwards, the Task Force began helping to build and shape an independent squadron fighting for freedom against oppressive regimes in Diabak. Successfully winning freedom and assuming control of the system, the squadron began to rapidly expand. With that expansion, power hungry forces within the squadron began creating rifts in the Leadership Council causing the Squadron Commander to go mad and turn on the very task force that helped him rise to power. The Task Force, known as Task Force 13, made a unilateral decision to break with the squadron and branch out on their own. Although rising through the ranks of the squadron with his friend and counterpart Kata to the ranks of VADM, the break left Kilz no choice but to resign his commission and join his brothers to continue fighting oppressive regimes without the the cancerous politics and petty jealous individuals that bring down empires. Eventually, things began to slow down and retirement from combat was in view, but he was called upon yet again to head up a Federal anti-insurgency group known as Thirteenth Echelon.
