The DBX "Stingray" was my first purchase out of the initial Sidewinder — I saved carefully to skip over the Adder, Cobra, Scout, and others — and became my testbed for exploration, combat, salvage, engineering, and nearly everything else that didn't require large cargo bays. The ship fit carries that "jack of all trades" philosophy to this day, although newer ships have eaten away at those roles as I specialize.

Even cross-loaded, though, "Stingray" still made 50 ly. The DBX's oversized FSD is a remarkable asset to fit flexibility on a small vessel, and that's how it's remained relevant across a variety of tasks for so long.

"Stingray" loaned its fully-engineered FSD to another DBX for my run to Colonia. While the FSD was shipped back to the bubble, a max-range Class 5 FSD is sufficiently versatile that it hasn't come back to "Stingray" — her heart now powers "Eschatologist", and following one last mission to Guardian sites, "Stingray" retired from her original missions. She now serves as a long-jump taxi -- where "long range" is up to and including the Crystal Shards.
