A capital ship packed into the hull of a corvette, the Tiderunner is one of the most powerful military vessels in the IPV navy and the pride and joy of CMDR Reid. The Tiderunner was envisioned as a versatile warship that can dominate in even the most hostile of environments and against insurmountable odds in any situation. Though the ship suffers in operation range, this is almost completely mitigated by the fact it will almost always be in range of one of the IPV’s carriers, specifically IPVN Northern Tyrant.

Most navy ships find their second hand owner in the scrapyard, who take it home and fix it up to then use as their own, and the story is no different here. The Tiderunner was no different from the twenty other Federal Corvettes in its particular scrapyard. It had no ID markings, all its logs wiped, seemingly any history the ship had, gone. And yet CMDR Reid saw something special about it, scarring on the hull that despite all attempts, made the ship stand out. He saw that this ship had a history, one of the huge hardpoint covers had been blown off, clearly from a missile impact, the rest of the hull was in a deplorable shape, several orders of magnitude worse than any of the others. It didn't matter to him, he could make it work, he had done more with less before. So he paid the price for the ship and had it towed to his home at the time, HIP 94863. He took the core internals and many of the other modules off of his previous combat ship, his Anaconda, and put them in the newly renamed Tiderunner. After the hull was repaired, he took the ship out for its first run, and never gave a thought of abandoning it.
