Ship details

Originally intended as a ground support ship, the IPVN Hammer Down has been repurposed as a ship to ship combat vessel, prioritizing the ability to stay in the field for a longer time than to dominate an enemy quickly. This does not mean it is not capable of doing so, just that it is not the ships primary focus. Hammer Down is often switched out for the Tiderunner in shorter, more intense engagements where sustained fighting for long periods of time does not occur.
A secondary loadout for the Hammer Down replaces all but the two small hardpoints with packhound missile racks, this loadout is not nearly as effective as it’s primary loadout, however, CMDR Reid has been heard over comms with his wing members laughing maniacally while firing full salvos, giving substantial evidence to the theory that this loadout is simply used for his personal enjoyment instead of outright combat effectiveness.
