The Zone of Endless project was launched in complete secrecy by Gutamaya Industries just after the first war with the Thargoids, as a potential solution to INRA's crippling lack of professional fighter pilots. The program was based off of the combat data obtained from the DYPJ-02 Mic Turner's flight recorder following a battle with Elite pilots.

By late 2898, Z.O.E. had been installed two ships: a Federal Corvette, and a newly developed Fer-De-Lance. These spacecraft were painted in a distinctive crimson finish. Each successive model displayed improved intelligence and increasingly improved capabilities, including the use of electronic jamming and counter-maneuvers against enemy warships.

All Z.O.E. spacecraft are capable of performing advanced maneuvers. In addition, the FDL and Federal Corvette units are capable of radar jamming that will disrupt the HUD and create fake targeting boxes, seen by victims of the deadly AI. With the ongoing discussion of the return of Thargoids, rumours indicate Z.O.E. may be out there, waiting to strike its next target.
