Description
The Federal Corvette-class Placid Descriptivist entered service in MAR 2021, defending the Sirius Summit against piracy. It was the first of my ships built specifically for combat, coming with a massive 3Beam/4MC armament that can clear a high-intensity combat zone without needing to reload. Its massive shield can stand up to a pounding while it slowly picks off targets, though its mid-range armor is only enough to escape after the shield drops. It has two fighter bays, allowing it to rapidly redeploy destroyed fighters.

As a somewhat unorthodox choice, it uses a large shield cell bank and a massive number of shield boosters, but no heatsink launcher, relying on cooling itself with its three Thermal Vent beam lasers. This occasionally works perfectly, though it more often simply tanks the heat damage.

Despite being explicitly combat-focused, it still carries a basic exploration and scavenging loadout (DSS/SRV/Collector/48 tons of cargo space). In a shield tank, filling these slots with armor would merely slow it down.

Since it entered service, Placid Descriptivist has shot down thousands of ships, both pirates and enemy combatants. Its name reflects a philosophy of calm pragmatism. "A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head."
