Description
Constructed on the 15th of March, 3307, the Aetheon is the main flagship and first corvette-class ship of Kao Tchaikovsky’s fleet. It boasts a custom engineered reactor, a grade 7 shield generator, twin class 4 auto cannons for the main armaments, and supportive turrets. It also features a full field repair suite, lending it to a supportive role as well as a combative one. This second iteration of the Aetheon, FNS-79, is the successor to the original Aetheon, FNS-78, sharing it’s name and it's role with the original. The FNS-78 was unfortunately destroyed on September 23rd, 3306, during a routine maintenance checkup at Jameson Memorial Station in the Shinrarta Dezhra system, where, due to a misconfiguration of the main power plant’s safety limiters and a can of “Nebularizer” brand soda, a short circuit in the main control board caused a dangerously unstable positive feedback loop and increased the power plant’s heat to dangerously extreme levels. A full evacuation of the ship and hangar bay was issued, and all personell managed to evacuate safely. About 23 seconds after the bay was evacuated and all access points were sealed, a massive detonation occurred inside of the bay, resulting in the complete loss of the vessel and extensive damage to the superstructure of the hangar bay itself. Salvage teams went in to recover what could be salvaged, and the only usable component was, incredibly, the pilot’s seat. The only damage to the seat being minor thermal damage to the internal ejector controller circuitry. The seat was salvaged, and later reinstalled on the newly commissioned Aetheon FNS-79. Experts and inspectors are unable to determine how the seat managed to survive a ship power plant detonation with barely a scratch, being called “nothing short of a miracle”.
The ship loadout is unknown.
