Ship details

The Hornet was an early attempt by GJI to enhance an Imperial Eagle in order to allow it to more reliably engage with larger targets. While successful, results were underwhelming and future projects resulted in the much more successful GJI-X2 "Tachyon Sting."

Though the ship was not able to keep up with the demands placed on it, it was still capable of higher than average performance. It was much tougher than a normal Eagle, and extremely fast and maneuverable. The weapon systems were based on the setup from the Wayward Son, granting it high damage performance at the cost of rapid heat generation. Ultimately its shield system was incredibly weak, incapable of taking sustained fire. A discovery about the flawed shield system's design led to the creation of a faster-charging shield with boosted capacities.
