Description
The process of building an impregnable destroyer began some months previously. Permits had to be acquired, which involved trips to 17 Draconis earlier in the year. Following this, a period of funds acquisition: it looked as if a minimum of six hundred million credits would be required.
3302 turned into a year of hard work, as permits for the Federal Corvette and Imperial Cutter were earned. An Anaconda was purchased as a trade/mining ship for funds acquisition. As the year drew to a close, Fleet Management dispatched a crew to Apadecavi to secure a Federal Corvette. This was partly down to expectation management, and partly to ring-fence the funds for destroyer procurement before another distraction came along to redirect efforts elsewhere.
However, there were insufficient funds to adequately equip Alexander for battle, so she lay in storage while resource management activities gathered pace. The Imperial Cutter XIIR Hermes was procured and outfitted for long-range transport, which was the optimal earning strategy at the time. TDL Fleet Management was thus able to move to a cash-positive status, whereby the funds required to outfit the fleet roadmap were acquired.
XIIR Alexander was outfitted for battle in April 3303, and full engineering was completed three months later. This included fitment of Prismatic Shields, following tenure with Aisling Duval.
Together with a combination of shield boosters, Alexander now boasts a near-impregnable 5000MJ shield with 60% resistances. Downside of this build is extreme duration of shield regeneration. To minimise this, Alexander carries shield cell banks. In battle, it is not uncommon for these SCBs to bear the brunt of shield regeneration, with comparatively little coming from the Shield Generator itself. Although shield failure is considered exceptionally unlikely by TDL Fleet Management, XIIR also carries Reactive Surface Composite Armour, together with Hull and Module reinforcement packages. These are purely intended to facilitate escape from a losing battle, rather than to extend the time in-theatre.
Weapons load consists of an Imperial Fighter with dual fixed beam lasers, two Huge Beam Lasers (one fixed, Healing), and corrosive multicannons on all other hardpoints.
Currently, XIIR Alexander is highly effective as a destroyer, and takes the lead in high-intensity conflict situations.
