Description
In December 2021, the ship was commissioned into the fleet as an extra fast, dedicated trader. Since owning a fleet carrier, there was more need for a largest possible trading ship and Navis Oneraria is ideal for the specialist role.
Prior to then, Itermercator (Type 9) was the only trade vessel. As it carried up to 752T and had shielding, there wasn't much need for another heavy trading vessel (except, for the slow speed and low jump range of the Type 9).
Comparing Navis Oneraria (Cutter) to Itermercator (Type 9) shows these key differences:
• Jump Unladen: 41.72 vs 25.56 - Navis Oneraria has a much better jump range of 16.16LY further.
• Jump Laden: 30.33 vs 16.56 - It also has an extra 13.77LY laden jump range, making it more practical when full.
• Range Laden: 160.67 vs 134.27 - The extra range for Navis Oneraria (26.4) is further than an unladen jump in Itermercator.
• Speed: 321 vs 194 (Boost 514 vs 299) - The speeds are the opposite end of the spectrum for large ships with Cutters being the fastest large ships available and the Type 9, being the very slowest ship of any.
• Navis Oneraria has no shields but instead, has extra hull and module reinforcements.
Considering the much better speed and range of Navis Oneraria, it's clearly a much better ship for trading large quantities.
During the Thargoid Invasion (in 2023), Navis Oneraria was temporarily repurposed as a refugee evacuation ship. Its speed meant it could easily outrun Thargoid Interceptors and Scouts, whilst safely transporting 160 people per trip.
Spec of the ship includes:
514 m/s Boost
41.72. LY Jump
2,174 Hull Hitpoints
• 2,099 Explosive Hitpoints
• 2,448 Kinetic Hitpoints
• 2,938 Thermal Hitpoints
