So apparently, some time ago, I received an invite from a couple of Engineers. Felicity Farseer was the first and I seem to recall a message popping up about it but it didn't register at the time.
In the meantime, it seems that Elvira Martuuk and Tod "The Blaster" McQuinn sent me invites as a result of achieving a PathFinder Rank.
I didn't realise until I looked ... and hadn't felt the need to look until recently.
This all comes off the back of some trouble I encountered which has resulted in my decision to urgently get the Anaconda and get it outfitted with a proper defense.
And the best defense out there sometimes is a damn good offense .... Old gridiron line from the 1900's !!
I'd made it to Borann and I'd mined 176T on LTDs on my first time out in the Type-7. Things were going very well indeed.
I'd sold them for more credits that I'd ever seen before and had headed back out to repeat.
A couple of additional trips of this and all would be well was the thinking.
So there I was mining away and with over 50T in the hold, I was spotted by a pirate. Those guys have no original lines do they.
I was caught unawares when he launched his cargo hatch breaking limpets in the middle of taking my shields down. I was pretty angry. This guy did not care and my hull was crumpling fast. I was quickly realizing that this was not going to end well for me.
The emergency voice warned eject and before I knew it, all was lost.
My Type-7's shields and single burst laser were no match and frankly, including the shields was more for mining accidents. The burst laser , well that was peace of mind at the time and entirely useless.
Ship and cargo ... getting on for 80mil in total I reckon ... Lost.
The trip back to the station and the rebuild of Dettiboo 4 was difficult.
It was filled with thoughts about the various outfitting options possible.
Looking ahead, I also got to thinking about engineering ....and ... there ya go .... I have invites already.
My credit account doesn't yet support it but I was straight to the shipyard dealer to discuss a new purchase.
This Anaconda is coming soon.
In the meantime, it is back out for me in the Type-7 to mine some more.
It is Elite Dangerous after all !
