This year is buzzin' - April (3310)

Wow ... it's April already ...how'd that happen? I'm checking back into the log here with really a non update update in terms of where I am at the minute and more of a wellbeing update of sorts.
In short, I'm still honking and scanning in the Plaa Eurk systems. I have seen some stuff though which is making the long more uninteresting periods in between worth the wait. Some vistas, ringed planets, moons and so on as well has some interesting looking lettuce and biology on the occasion give pause. The vastness of the void however still remains awesome!
It's been a case of the 'same ole same old' for me. I was reading up on the Raaxla topic. I'm not making headway with it to be honest. There's lots of stuff to read about it and not always very much hard evidence to corroborate with. It's something for the back burner until I get back to the bubble which will not be anytime soon.
There have been some developments however.
(Note: some lore-sensitive poetic license needed here. Also, Gen 1 = 2D monitor, Gen2 = Head-Tracking, & Gen 3 = VR headset)
Probably the biggest improvement I've implemented is my new system view setup in the cockpit.
Until now, I'd been flying with a gen2 setup , having ran with a gen1 setup for years beforehand. Ah, the old Gen 1 setup .... classic and still used, this has been the "go to" standard since, well forever ... and no word of a lie, it's still a great choice for many.
I'd been running a Gen2 setup with zero complaints but there I was, sorting through some stores and I came across a box I'd forgotten about.
Way back whenever, I honestly no longer recall, I'd splurged out and bought a early full release Gen3 setup. Actually I had been using it for other things but hadn't ever really properly considered plugging it into my Viper Mk IV. I dunno, you get comfortable with using your existing system and don't want to break with it, for the sake of curiosity or something .... until .... that is .... curiosity get's the better of you.
I was parked on some Moon, sitting in my cockpit eating some chow and watching the shadows of the nearby mountain range grow across the ground in from of me and ..... in it popped .... "wonder if that Gen3 is actually any good?" 30 minutes later all up, I had it integrated.
I knew the Gen3 well as a tool as I said above but was concerned over some details of the integration, namely access so some external tools that I use when out here. That in fairness, had been a delaying factor in setting it up. Sure, the Viper MK IV systems are pretty substantial but there is an exploration buddy tool I like to make use of, to name just one and I don't think I could feel quite happy without it.
Anyway, with some software found (much of the 30 minutes used there) called, OVRToolkit and some fenagling time, I'm even more blown away than I was when moving from Gen1 to Gen2.
The Gen3 setup rocks the biscuits (I should try to copywrite that phrase I reckon ) ..... and with the OVRtoolkit ensuring my external tools are also available just as before, flying my Viper feels renewed, fresh, fun and honestly, the improved depth of field makes low flying over terrain a whole new experience. If I scrape my hull now off some outcrops, I'll have no excuses.
I've left the Gen2 hooked up as the backup 'cos, out here in the void, having a backup ain't no bad idea but it'll be Gen3 all the way.
Until curiosity gets to me again and the next great idea floats in.
S!
