Colonia At Last

06 Mar 2018Noah Millea
We finally made it to Colonia. We docked at Jaques Station yesterday and all basically fell into our racks to sleep for as long as we could. That didn't keep us down too long though. The excitement of being in this system had us up and moving far earlier than any of us expected. The crew has been requesting that we fly around the system for days now and I was just as eager as them to take a look around. We refuelled the Minotaur, undocked, and began our sightseeing tour.
First we looked around Jaques Station itself as none of us had seen that kind of an Orbis station. Well that's obvious since it's the only one of its kind. But still to see a station like that with such massive engines was daunting. We spent nearly an hour flying around the station just gawking. Got some good picts too. Then we headed off to Dove Enigma. Some of the crew didn't know the story of CMDR DoveEnigma so I made sure to fill them in before we got there. It was a moment heavy with gravitas when we dropped out of supercruise. In this massive galaxy it's so easy to feel insignificant and small but seeing Dove Enigma made us realize how amazing humanity really is. To band together like that for one person, it truly makes you appreciate humanity's better points.
But enough of that, we had the rest of the system to explore. We set off scanning every planet, landing at every planetary base, and taking some good picts of the surrounding nebulae. With that done we went back to Jaques to dock up and I joked with the crew that the station could very well jump overnight and we'd wake up in Beagle Point. Most of the crew thought that was funny. Some thought it was true. Either way I had fun with it.
Tomorrow we start the preparations for our next leg of this journey. I have decided we are going to head to Sagittarius A* to witness the supermassive black hole that is in that system. Not only that but I have mapped out our route, and we will be using the Neutron Highway to get there. 200 ly jumps is something I can't pass up, but I hope I know what I'm doing. Iain's been on a ship that did that kind of run before he says, but he was only an engineering chief then so he doesn't know the ins and outs of it. Just that it's possible. Let's hope he's right.
